Welcome to the December edition of the Oaks Embassy Newsletter!
December 2015 Welcome to the December edition of the Oaks Embassy Newsletter! How We're Tracking Sales & Marketing December started off very strong this year. Following on from November after the Pacific School Games and the Australia vs New Zealand Cricket, occupancy held strong for the first 2 weeks of December and finished up at 82% for the month. This was largely contributed to the various events around the city such as, Oprah, Stereo Sonic Music Festival, Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman. This month Adelaide was the host city for Dreamtime 2015, Tourism Australia’s signature bi-annual meeting and incentive event and showcase. Dreamtime brought more than 100 of the world’s top level travel and incentive buyers from key destinations to Adelaide. With Christmas approaching we saw mid-December become very quiet, however it did pick up again straight after to take us into the New Year. Looking ahead to January, as most would flock to the beach for the warm summer weather, there are still some events in the city that will attract such as the Cricket and Tour Down Under. January occupancy is opening at 64%. The team attended several end of year events to strengthen relationships with key clients, including the Phil Hoffman Travel Supplier Christmas Party and Adelaide Convention Christmas Business Hour. Staff also attended OZFocus Travel Agent product update on Kangaroo Island. The workshop enabled us to nurture relationships, create awareness of developments throughout our properties and ensure that our brand remains forefront of their mind when making reservations. On behalf of all of us at Oaks Sales & Marketing, we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Property Improvements With the replacement of the lift buttons recently, there have been some noticeable issues occurring. We thank everyone for their patience during this time and rest assured this matter is being looked into by the manufacturer and hopefully all will be resolved soon. The Coffee Club has a new seasonal special menu with Summer Sliders and Summer Frappes with three flavors of each to choose from. They are also currently trialing some new operating hours Monday – Friday from 5:30am – 9:00pm. Oaks Embassy also has conferencing facilities available for conferences or meetings for up to 20 people. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any enquiries. - Jenna Smith, Hotel Manager Driving Business Adelaide CBD benefited this month from entertainment events including Ghost the Musical and The Hugh Jackman Tour. This provided significant base in these properties to assist in what is typically a slower month for corporate and leisure business. The opposite is said for Glenelg as Christmas Holidays commence and leisure business is at its peak. Call conversion numbers have been strong, and promotional exposure key this month with continued focus to maximize on all opportunities for increasing occupancy in our hotels.
