Asia Pacific Forestry Week 2016 Partnership for Positive Change: Towards new Chinese overseas forest investment and trade China’s rising demand for timber products has had far-reaching impacts on the global forest products trade and investment. This impact is expected to accelerate further in the coming years, especially under the new Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives – also known as “One Belt, One Road (OBOR)” – which offers opportunities for Chinese businesses to leverage new partnerships in Asia Pacific and beyond. WWF and Center for International Forest Products Trade (CINFT) of China’s State Forestry Administration (SFA) will jointly host this event, which will spotlight China’s Silk Road initiatives, its implications for the forest sector and the potential for new partnerships for sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region.
