Asia Pacific Forestry Week 2016 Partnership for
Asia Pacific Forestry Week 2016
Partnership for Positive Change:
Towards new Chinese overseas
forest investment and trade
China’s rising demand for timber
products has had far-reaching
impacts on the global forest
products trade and investment. This
impact is expected to accelerate
further in the coming years,
especially under the new Silk Road
Economic Belt and the 21st Century
Maritime Silk Road initiatives – also
known as “One Belt, One Road
(OBOR)” – which offers
opportunities for Chinese
businesses to leverage new
partnerships in Asia Pacific and
beyond.
WWF and Center for International
Forest Products Trade (CINFT) of
China’s State Forestry
Administration (SFA) will jointly
host this event, which will spotlight
China’s Silk Road initiatives, its
implications for the forest sector
and the potential for new
partnerships for sustainable
development in the Asia Pacific
region.
Specifically, the event will feature
the successful experience of the
China-Gabon partnership; China’s
efforts in combating illegal logging
and associate trade; efforts by the
private sector to promote green
forest products production, trade
and investment; and lessons
