Marketing AND WORLDMARK SERVICES
If you’ve been dreaming of summer, the good news is the warmer months are just
around the corner and WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham is here to help
make your summer holidays unforgettable.
Holidays give us the time we need to break from routine to relax, recharge, rekindle
friendships and spend precious time with loved ones.
In this issue of Destinations we’ve put together our “Top Six Picks for Summer”, to
help you plan the kind of holiday that will bring you priceless memories that will last
a lifetime.
When in Rotorua and Wanaka in New Zealand, you can swim in the lakes, soak up the
sunshine and experience natural wonders. New Zealand’s summer is like a European
summer. The sun doesn’t set until after 8pm so you can enjoy nearly two days in one!
On the Gold Coast, you can experience the thrills and excitement of Australia’s
favourite theme parks before an invigorating swim at the beach or simply relax
poolside at our newest resort, Wyndham Surfers Paradise. You can read all about
these and other idyllic summer destinations in our main feature (pages 6-9).
For those of you who have children or grandchildren, we’ve also included a feature on
WorldMark South Pacific Club destinations that are favourites with kids (pages 14-15).
You won’t believe how many fantastic kids’ activities there are in the Margaret River
region. There are for instance, a huge amount of family friendly wineries, which are
as much fun for the kids as they are for the adults. The Margaret River region offers
so much to see and do, including incredible animal attractions, wondrous caves and
breathtaking scenery, you’ll have a tough time deciding where to begin.
Of course we realise that some of you will be wanting inspiration for your next
overseas adventure so we take you to Vietnam and Cambodia this issue. To make
it easier for you to experience our newest Associate Resort, Swiss-Belhotel Golden
Sands Resort and Spa - Hoi An, Travel Club by Wyndham have put together a travel
package especially for you. This wonderful package includes a seven night Mekong
River Cruise and first class accommodation including nights in Saigon, Siem Reap,
Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and three nights in Hoi An.
No matter where you travel across your Club destinations, as a WorldMark South
Pacific Club Owner you should always feel like family. In the WorldMark family
exceptional service is in our DNA, so rest assured every time you holiday you will
receive the same “Count On Me!” service, stylish accommodation and a fantastic
holiday experience.
Without further ado, it’s time to break out the bathers, get packing and enjoy your
summer to the fullest!

Letter of the Month:
Recently my mum took my brother and I to Sydney. It was a
wonderful bonding experience spending quality time together.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Sydney was great and in
such a good location we hardly needed to use the public transport.
We walked all over Sydney from Darling Harbour (visiting the
Sydney Aquarium and the Powerhouse Museum) to Circular Quay
to catch the ferry to Taronga Zoo and Manly. We also walked to
Centrepoint Tower and checked out the amazing views. At the
resort the rooms were nice with all the facilities that my mum
needed to look after us, but the staff were nicer and gave us
chocolates when we arrived. They also let us watch some great
movies. My favourite place we visited was the Blue Mountains
(which mum did not make us walk to … luckily!) we were well
located to the station to catch the train. Overall we had a great
time. I would recommend Wyndham to all my friend’s mums and
can’t wait for mum to book the next holiday with Wyndham.
‘Picture it’ Winner:
Here is a picture that I took recently while my family (and I) were
staying at Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Flynns Beach
in Port Macquarie. We were lucky to go on a whale-watching boat
when there were whales that wanted to give a display.

Fun in the Sun!
The whole family thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at WorldMark
South Pacific Club by Wyndham Denarau Island, Fiji. There was so
much to do whether it be exciting water activities or relaxing by
the pool. The staff were so warm and friendly and the environment
was so full of tropical beauty, everyone was happy. Can’t beat that
for a holiday!

ON MARCOOLA BEACH BY WYNDHAM HOSTS
1 SURFAIR
INTERNATIONAL RALLY OF QUEENSLAND
SurfAir on Marcoola Beach recently hosted the organisers of the International Rally of
Queensland, Australia’s biggest championship rally.
As official hotel partner, SurfAir on Marcoola Beach attracted a full house for the period of
the event.
The International Rally of Queensland is part of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship
featuring competitors from the Asia Pacific region, the UK, Japan and India.
1
SurfAir on Marcoola Beach Resort Manager, Damien Keenan said the event was a big success,
contributing to the region’s economy and attracting about 650 volunteers from the local area.
2 ROTORUA FISHING SEASON BEGINS
The Rotorua fishing season is now underway, with the official start of the season held on October 1.
The season runs until June 30, 2011 attracting fishing enthusiasts from all over Australia and New Zealand
looking for the chance to catch trout from one of the many waterways across Rotorua.
The Ohau Channel, which runs through the WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham Rotorua grounds is
one of the best places for fishing in Rotorua.

TREETOPS WINS AT TOURISM AWARDS

Wyndham Coffs Harbour – Treetops has taken out the Bronze Award in the 2010
Countrylink North Coast Tourism Awards in the category of New Development. The awards, held in Coffs Harbour recently, included 63 finalists from the NSW North
Coast including Port Stephens to Tweed Heads in various categories.
The Coffs Coast Independent newspaper reported: “For a new resort to place in the
finalists of the 2010 Countrylink Tourism Awards is a great achievement, yet the
already excellent reputation that Wyndham Coffs Harbour holds locally means its
selection as a finalist is no surprise.”
4 RCI CELEBRATE THEIR 80,000TH MEMBER!
When Barry Myles and partner Helen Brereton joined the WorldMark South Pacific
Club last August they got a little more than they were expecting! The couple from
Victoria Point, Queensland, were surprised to discover that by joining Privileges by
Wyndham they also became vacation exchange company, RCI’s 80,000th member.
3
One of the advantages of Privileges by Wyndham is automatic membership to RCI and ICE
vacation exchange companies. With RCI and ICE your Privileges by Wyndham Qualified
Vacation Credits can take you to any one of thousands of resorts all over the world or even
be put towards a cruise on the high seas.
Barry and Helen certainly have a lot to look forward to with a world of holiday choices to
start enjoying and to top it off, to celebrate their milestone membership, RCI awarded them
with a holiday package, which included a one night stay at the brand new Wyndham Surfers
Paradise, $1000 to spend with RCI Pacific and a gourmet food and wine hamper.
“We were very surprised when we received the call to say we were the 80,000th members
and it was very exciting to be invited to the Gold Coast to celebrate the milestone,” Helen said.
RCI and Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific staff celebrated with Barry and Helen at
the stylish lobby and cafe/bar of Wyndham Surfers Paradise in September.

magine lounging back on soft golden sand, marvelling at the sparkling blue water, breathing in fresh sea air
and enjoying the sounds of the ocean gently lapping against the shore. If you’ve been craving a relaxing beach
escape there’s no better place than the seaside towns of Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie on the NSW MidNorth Coast. Warm temperatures, long sunny days and a relaxed atmosphere make these ideal locations for the
seaside escape you’ve been dreaming about.
Conveniently located half way between Brisbane and
Sydney, the Coffs Coast features 90km of golden
beaches ideal for swimming, surfing, diving, fishing
and more. For a family holiday spend your days
relaxing on the many beaches while the children build
sandcastles and splash around in the water.
There are plenty of patrolled beaches nearby. Catch
some waves at Diggers Beach, renowned by the locals
for its ideal surf conditions or head to popular Park
Beach, ideal for swimming and fishing and the perfect
spot for an afternoon BBQ.
Unwind at the end of the day with a heavenly
pampering experience nearby at Tranquility Beauty &
Massage Retreat.
A couple of hours south of Coffs Harbour is the laid back town of Port
Macquarie, another blue water wonderland for those looking for some
relaxation these summer holidays.
Beautiful long stretches of beach lined with parks and nature reserves
make this destination a relaxing haven for families and couples. Admire
the views while going for a leisurely stroll along the white-sand beaches
or kayaking on the Hastings River while spotting dolphins frolicking in
their natural environment.
An unsurpassed dining experience in Port Macquarie can be enjoyed in
a casual atmosphere on the water’s edge at the Stunned Mullet. This
modern Australian restaurant is positioned across from iconic Town Beach
and is the perfect place to sit back with a cocktail, coffee or meal and take
in the beautiful ocean views.
Can’t decide between these two fantastic destinations? Combine your holiday and split your
Vacation Credits between Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Coffs Harbour - Treetops

rom the sparkling seaside to spectacular peaks there are two WorldMark resort locations that allow you to truly
experience the wonders of the wilderness. These summer holidays pack your hiking boots and head to one of
Australia’s most rugged, picturesque states, Tasmania, or to New Zealand’s breathtaking Wanaka. The striking beauty
of these two locations can be enjoyed for even longer during the summer months with daylight savings meaning
longer days, and more time for you to explore.
The sheer magnificence of Tasmania’s wilderness has to be seen to be
believed and best of all Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Seven
Mile Beach is within easy reach of it all. Summer is the perfect time to
visit, with mild temperatures and sunny blue skies.
Head to Huon Valley for a magnificent treetop walk on the Tahune
Forest AirWalk or for another amazing aerial experience try the Eagle
Hang Gliding over the rainforest canopy. Further south in Hastings
Cave State Reserve you can discover limestone caves and thermal
springs with trail walks for beginners to advanced.
Tahune Forest AirWalk
Other spectacular locations within an hour or two drive of Wyndham
Seven Mile Beach include Wineglass Bay to the east of Freycinet
National Park and the crystal clear waters of Great Oyster Bay, an
ideal place for diving, snorkelling and fishing.
For around $300 per person, WorldMark Owners can experience the
beauty of Tasmania from a bird’s eye view with a Par Avion ‘Day in the
Wilderness’ Tour. This full-day tour will take you on a scenic flight of
the South West before embarking on a boat trip to Bathurst Harbour
and enjoying a guided walk and lunch. Ask Reception for more details.
Visit www.paravion.com.au
Wineglass Bay
Home to some of New Zealand’s largest peaks and most picturesque lakes
and wilderness, Wanaka is a truly breathtaking location that you are sure to
remember for a long time to come. Wanaka is much-loved by New Zealanders as
a summer destination. In summer the days are longer and you can fit two days of
adventure into one.
Spend your summer holidays exploring the largely untouched landscape at
nearby Mt Aspiring National Park. Hike to the majestic Rob Roy Glacier and picnic
by a cascading waterfall or try your hand at fly-fishing in one of the tranquil
rivers, lakes, or streams surrounded by magnificent mountains for the chance to
catch trout or salmon.
Mount Aspiring National Park
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Wanaka is just a short stroll from the
shores of Lake Wanaka where, in summer, you can enjoy a variety of water sport
activities under the sun including water skiing, sailing, jet boating, fishing and
kayaking to name a few.
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, try something different. White water
sledging gives you a completely different view of the surrounding natural beauty
while you cruise downstream through mighty rapids on a purpose built board. For
a more conventional approach to rapids there are plenty of white water
rafting options.
The awe-inspiring beauty of Wanaka will leave you wanting more and wondering
why you didn’t visit sooner.

What tips do you have for Owners to make the most of their
Vacation Ownership?
I am a planner, and I love taking holidays with my wife and family
at any opportunity. My advice is to always think about your next
holiday, keep your Resort Guide handy, talk about it with family
and friends, and discuss your plans with any of the WorldMark
team who are always happy to help. By planning ahead you have
more time to look forward to your next break.
Best family getaway
Definitely Denarau Island, Fiji. It’s a short flight but feels a world
away. The climate is perfect for relaxing and taking it easy, the
kids absolutely love it and of course the wonderful, friendly Fijian
people make it such a special place.
Most romantic destination
My wife and I had our honeymoon in the South Island of New
Zealand so I would recommend a visit to Wyndham Vacation
Resorts Asia Pacific Wanaka. The snow capped mountains, warm
fireplaces and great food and wine are hard to beat for that
romantic getaway. Best place for a short break
Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour are both laid back and relaxing
getaway destinations and best of all they are an easy drive from
Sydney and Brisbane. The climate is ideal and the beautiful
scenery is perfect for recharging the batteries.

Best travel advice you’ve ever been given
Always ask a local what to do in their area. This is a great way
to discover some well kept secrets that other travellers know
nothing about!
Most unforgettable travel experience
Some of the most amazing things I have seen are the northern
lights and an erupting volcano. I would have to say that proposing
to my wife in the Himalayas has to be my highlight though.
Funniest travel moment
Bumping into a fellow Aussie in a fiesta in Spain and realising
that we lived in the same apartment building back home on the
Gold Coast was a very funny moment. Another would have to
be watching my two-year-old son dance with the Fijian dancers
during the traditional Lovo night in front of a packed audience.
Most memorable meal on the Gold Coast
The degustation menu at Absynthe located across the road from
Wyndham Surfers Paradise was incredible. The chef is a Michelin
2 star winner and the restaurant has been awarded the best
regional Queensland restaurant. Fantastic!
I love the Gold Coast because …
Like Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific CEO and Managing
Director Barry Robinson, I have a passion for surfing. The Gold
Coast’s beaches are fantastic, the pristine waters are warm year
round and we get a huge dose of sunshine. I’ve seen a lot of
beaches around the world but it’s pretty hard to beat what we
have right here on the Gold Coast. Have you won?

By Angie Christofis
As I ran along the powdery shores of Seven Mile Beach, silky morning clouds hugged hilltops and the
sun shone gold across the water. I had the beach to myself. The water was like glass and the gentlest of
waves kissed the shore delivering the prettiest of shells.
Tasmania is perhaps one of the world’s final frontiers, a faraway island
with a wild and pretty wilderness. There is a sense of mystery and intrigue
that floats in the clean crisp air. This is after all an island that once had
its own breed of ‘tiger’ - a strange, marsupial dog-like creature that once
roamed the rugged woodlands.
The last known Thylacine died in Hobart Zoo on the 7th of September
in 1936. Despite its official classification as extinct, reported, perhaps
hopeful sightings of the ‘fabled’ creature continue to this day.
It is not just rumours of tigers that set Tassie apart. The birds are strangely
different too. An enormous Pacific Gull landed like a seaplane right in front
of me - out of control - skidding then waddling with outstretched wings causing me to swerve. Not really an elegant landing. He looked at me as if
embarrassed, then busied himself by pecking at a pippi.
As I looked across the water I felt a private thrill at my close proximity to
Antarctica - and as I took a deep breath I took pleasure in knowing that
the air I was breathing was of the cleanest in the world. A morning walker
emerged from a salty haze and as she passed me we gave each other a
knowing smile, as if in on the same delicious secret.
There is something deeply spiritual about
being on a beach framed only by wilderness,
so close to the bottom of the planet.
‘A World Apart not a World Away’ is the island’s slogan and these words
certainly rang true. My flight from Sydney was surprisingly quick and the
resort under ten minutes drive from Hobart Airport. As I drove through
the gates of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Seven Mile Beach, I
was taken aback by the incredible gardens.
The eco-friendly resort has been designed to blend with the beautiful
surrounds of Seven Mile Beach. The resort’s landscapers have lovingly
tended a showcase, native Australian garden that is truly a living rainbow
of colour. Yellow and crimson kangaroo paws nestle against delicate
native blue bells. Happy birds enjoyed sweet nectar from lemon bottlebrushes, while native bees buzzed among the fragrant blossoms of sweet
scented wattle.
Bush tucker fruits, blooming gum nuts … everywhere you look, the natural
surrounds inspire you. Derek, the resort’s horticulturalist can almost
always be found lovingly tending his garden and will passionately tell you
about the mating habits of the Yellow-rumped thornbill, while casually
handing you a kangaroo apple or some other ‘bush food’ to munch on.
My jaunt into Hobart was a delightful surprise. What a wonderful city!
European in style and reminiscent of the great port cities of Dutch
Amsterdam and San Sebastian in Spain.
Well-dressed men and stylish women stroll the port city’s streets. Scientists
stop in for supplies before boarding the Ice-Breaker to the Antarctic. Avid
adventurers with woolly beards linger in cosy cafes for a taste of life’s
pleasures before hiking a mountain or rafting a river.
24
Bohemian, arty, lively, cultured and refined - the nautical town of Hobart
buzzes amidst excellent food and wines and the seafood is to die for.
Ghosts of fishermen, madams and drunken sailors of wilder colonial times,
still (so I’m told) inhabit the sandstone cellars of the Georgian warehouses
of Salamanca Place. Once the lively centre for trade and commerce of the
southern most outpost of the Colony these stone portside buildings now
house some of the best restaurants in the country.
Without a doubt the best seafood marinara I have ever tasted was served
to me with a flourish at Maldini’s at Salamanca Place. Maldini’s is owned
and operated by Bruno Di Tommaso and his son Dante with Luciano
Tiberio and his wife, acclaimed chef Victoria Hardwick-Tiberio. Maldini’s
has crafted a menu that reflects the diversity of regional Italian cooking
and hand select fresh seafood daily from the fishing boats that moor in
the harbour right opposite.
With a full belly, I wandered the streets of Hobart past revellers drinking
boutique beers and noticed that Taswegians, at least Hobartians, revel
in style. Log fires flickered illuminating the insides of funky bars and
restaurants with a warm sandstone glow. Smiling faces anchored at
alfresco tables laughed and chatted while indulging in Hobart’s fine wines
and delicious cuisine.
Within fifteen minutes I was back in the quiet of my wildflower encircled,
cosy apartment at Wyndham Seven Mile Beach sinking into my heavenly
spa. I pondered, where would my Tasmanian adventures take me next
… the wilds of Cradle Mountain? The Franklin River Gorges? Aboard the
Aurora Australis where I would volunteer to study penguins? I would
decide in the morning, I thought … after my run and flying lessons on the
beach with, Percy, the Pacific Gull.

Both Vietnam and Cambodia will greet you with amazing culture,
intriguing customs, mouth-watering cuisine and friendly smiles.
From the bustling cities to unique waterscapes and World Heritage
listed sites, ancient temples and fascinating history, you’ll be
captivated and charmed by these spectacular countries.
The fast-paced streets, lively markets and vibrant nightlife of
Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) will make you feel truly alive. The
ancient and modern worlds come together in Vietnam’s capital
city, with motorbikes streaming past ancient pagodas and modern
restaurants and bars overlooking small wooden shops. Stroll
the streets and explore the region’s many historical attractions
including the War Remnants Museum or head outside the city to
the Cu Chi Tunnels, more than 200km of an underground network
of tunnels created by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.
Heading south away from busy city life is the Mekong Delta, a
watery landscape made up of green fields and sleepy villages. A
cruise on the Mekong River is an experience like no other. As you
journey upstream to Cambodia, you’ll be greeted with amazing
culture. Friendly locals wave to passing boats from the shores and
the life of those living and working on the river will captivate you.
The Cambodian towns of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap are a must
see. In Phnom Penh, discover the Royal Palace, with its spectacular
white and gold architecture and the temple on the hill, Wat Phnom,
where you may even spot some resident monkeys.
Siem Reap is home to the World Heritage listed archaeological
site of Angkor, a massive complex featuring about 100 temples
including Angkor Wat, one of the world’s largest religious
monuments. Hire a motorbike and tour around the temples at your
own pace, before returning to town and unwinding with a drink on
Bar Street, the town’s dining and entertainment precinct.
A short flight away in northern Vietnam is the contrasting
destinations of Hanoi and Ha Long Bay. Spend time exploring the
streets of Hanoi, sampling tasty food from one of the many food
stalls or restaurants and catching a water puppet show, a unique
Vietnamese art dating back to the 10th century. Halong Bay will
26
provide you with relaxation, where spectacular limestone peaks
and emerald water will greet you. Take a cruise on a traditional
Vietnamese Junk Boat exploring caves, islands and beaches.
In the quaint town of Hoi An, in central Vietnam, you can wander
the narrow streets of the World Heritage listed ancient town,
explore the boutique shops or relax by the picturesque river and
sample some of the best Vietnamese cuisine in the country.
