ernard Guillaumet, a non-Christian French
journalist, is assigned the job of doing a story
on Lourdes in the late 1990s. Just before he leaves
for Lourdes, Bernard learns that his wife is pregnant. However, he is not told that this pregnancy
could put her life at risk—and that doctors are
suggesting an abortion.
While researching for his report on Lourdes,
Bernard comes across the pages of an old family
manuscript.
The manuscript was written by his ancestor,
Henri Guillaumet, a positivist scientist and nonbeliever who met Bernadette at Lourdes in 1858,
a meeting which profoundly affected Henri and
forced him to reconsider the miracles performed
following the apparitions of the Madonna of
Lourdes. One of the most important miracles
Giullaumet had to reconsider was the healing of
his wife Claire, who had been on her death bed
as a result of tuberculosis, and was completely
restored by the miraculous waters of the grotto in
which Bernadette saw the Our Lady.
This intriguing film uses the pages of the
manuscript to trace the stories of three lives—
Bernadette, Henry and Bernard, three characters
whose lives intertwine as they pursue parallel
journeys according to the designs of Providence.
Directed by Lodovico Gasparini (St. John Bosco,
Don Matteo), stars Alessandro Gassman, Angele
Osinski, and Sydne Rome, and written by
Vittorio Messori (The Ratzinger Report). In Italian
with English and Spanish subtitles.

n 1948 Aurora Marin arrives with her family at
the convent of the Canossian Sisters of Schio,
Italy, where Sister Bakhita has just died. Aurora
was hoping to see her before she died. She gathers her children around the picture of Bakhita
and tells them of the incredible life of the woman
that had raised her as her nanny.
Born in a village in Sudan, kidnapped by slavers, often beaten and abused, and later sold to
Federico Marin, a Venetian merchant, Bakhita
then came to Italy and became the nanny servant
of Federico’s daughter, Aurora, who had lost her
mother at birth. She is treated as an outcast by
the peasants and the other servants due to her
black skin and African background, but Bakhita
is kind and generous to others. Bakhita gradually comes closer to God with the help of the kind
village priest, and embraces the Catholic faith.
She requests to join the order of Canossian
sisters, but Marin doesn’t want to give her up as
his servant, treating her almost as his property.
This leads to a moving court case that raised an
uproar which impacts Bakhita’s freedom and
ultimate decision to become a nun. Pope John
Paul II declared her a saint in the year 2000.
Directed by Giacamo Campiotti (St. Giuseppe
Moscati, Doctor Zhivago) and stars Fatou Kine
Boye, Stefania Rocca, Fabio Sartor, Ettore Bassi,
and Francesco Salvi. In Italian with English

The Early Christians
The Incredible Odyssey of
Early Christianity
H
ow did the religion of Love survive paganism and barbarianism? The empire persecuted the Christians and was eventually converted. The Barbarians sacked Rome, but were
converted too.
How did the religion of Love manage to survive against paganism and barbarianism? How
did the first Christians live? Who were their
most terrible enemies: idols, lions, Jews... or heretics? How did they defend their faith? How did
they propagate it?
The blood of the martyrs was the seed for
new Christians. But after the persecutions of
the Romans and the barbarian invasions came
another grave danger for the new religion: heresies… They would not be lethal. On the contrary,
they provided the opportunity to define the
essential truths of Christian faith, consolidating
the roots of a millennial Church. This in-depth
new film series produced in europe explores
this amazing story of the witness of the early
Christians and the spread of Christianity. In
English and Spanish languages.

fter ten years of correspondence, filmmaker
Michael Whyte was given unprecedented
access to the monastery of the Most Holy Trinity,
in London’s notting Hill. The monastery, founded in 1878, is home to the nuns of the Discalced
Order of Carmelites, who lead a cloistered life
dedicated to prayer, work and contemplation,
rarely leaving the monastery except to visit a
doctor or dentist. Silence is maintained throughout the day with the exception of two periods of
recreation.
A highly acclaimed, multiple award-winning
documentary, No Greater Love follows in the
wake of the great success of a similar film, Into
Great Silence, as it gives a unique insight into this
closed world of these nuns where the modern
world’s materialism is rejected; they have no
television, radio or newspapers. The film interweaves a year in the life of the monastery with
the daily rhythms of Divine Office and work.
Centered on Holy Week, it follows a year in
which a novice is professed and one of the older
nuns dies. Though mainly a meditational film,
there are several interviews with the nuns, which
offer insights into their lives, faith, moments of
doubt and their belief in the power of prayer in
the heart of the community. A beautifully filmed
and deeply inspiring production. In English
with English and Spanish subtitles.
“Courageous, compelling and deeply moving.”

God’s Doorkeeper St. André of Montreal
O
SPECIAL FEATURES
n January 6, 1937, the death of a humble doorkeeper
for a boys’ college drew over a million people to
Montreal for his funeral. For 40 years, Brother André
Bessette of the Congregation of Holy Cross welcomed people at the door and became known as a miraculous healer.
God’s Doorkeeper looks at the heart and legacy of Brother
André —as a man of prayer, of hospitality, and of compassion; a man who draws people in to experience a God who
is love. On October 17, 2010, Brother André became the
first male Canadian-born saint and the first saint for the
Congregation of Holy Cross. He is living proof that “it is
with the smallest brushes that the divine artist paints the
most beautiful pictures.”
The film features interviews from Montreal, Rome, and
the United States—with people who knew him and others
who continue Brother André’s work today. It also includes
footage of the Beatification and Canonization ceremonies in
Rome and the celebrations in Canada, with footage of the
unforgettable events of Brother André’s road to sainthood.

The Nun The Story of a Carmelite Vocation
T
his is an award-winning documentary that tells the beautiful story
of Marta, a young Catholic woman in Sweden and her countercultural choice to follow a calling to become a cloistered Carmelite
nun, and to live her life for God alone. Documentary filmmaker Maud
nycander followed Marta and her family for ten years to tell the story
of her vocation, and the Carmelite convent made a unique exception
to its strict regulations by allowing the filmmaker to meet with and
interview Marta both before and after her five-year postulant period.
The Carmelite convent in Glumslöv in the south of Sweden is normally
closed to outsiders.
Marta comes from a large Catholic family, one of nine children, a
close-knit family who live on a farm in Sweden. Marta lived a very
happy family life, and had an active social life with many friends in
school, but yet felt the call to leave all that for the challenging life of a
cloistered contemplative Carmelite nun. This film explores that decision that is seen as a radical one in the eyes of the world, and follows
Marta and her family during that period of her life before and after her
becoming a Carmelite.
Marta gives her own insights into why she made this challenging
decision to give up the possibility of marriage and family for the life of
a cloistered nun, and we get a good glimpse into that hidden life the Carmelites live. We also meet Marta’s
family in the documentary: her supportive father and her mother, first pleased with Marta’s choice but
later struck by a great, unexpected sadness. Helena, her closest sister, who has also considered joining a
convent. Big brother Samuel, a doubter who lives a Bohemian life in Paris. And little brother emanuel, to
whom Marta was practically a mother. emanuel tried to stop her from joining the convent and still wishes
she would come home. He comforts himself with the faith that they’ll meet again in Heaven.

he film explores Pope John Paul II’s historic nine-day pilgrimage
to Poland in June of 1979, which created a revolution of conscience that transformed Poland and fundamentally reshaped the
spiritual and political landscape of the 20th Century.

Italian cast, explore what transpired during these dramatic nine days

Wall in november of 1989 and the dissolution of the Soviet Union
in 1991.

Novak, John O’Sullivan, Jerzy Kluger, Fr. Adam Boniecki, Fr.
Thomas Williams, President Lech Walesa, President Vaclav Havel,
Former CIA Director James Woolsey, and many more. Nine Days

The Holy Face
The Face of Christ in the Cloth of Manoppello
A
n intriguing documentary film about the discovery of the
amazing relic of the Holy Face on a cloth revered in a Church
in Manoppello, Italy. Paul Badde, author of the international bestselling book on the Veil of Manoppello, The Face of God, is a featured
spokesman in this film that takes us to the Church in Italy to see
this amazing cloth up close, and to learn the mysterious history
that surrounds it.
Based on the in-depth research Badde did for his book, this film
reveals that experts have determined that the cloth of Manoppello
is not Veronica’s veil, as some thought, but rather the face cloth
laid over the face of Jesus in the tomb. Unlike the Shroud of Turin,
which is a “negative” of the image, the image on the face cloth is
a “positive” of the face of Christ. The fabric of this cloth is so thin
and delicate that it is impossible to paint on—yet the image in
Manoppello is clearly visible and, moreover, when laid over the
image of the face on the Shroud of Turin forms a perfect match.
enjoy the thrilling journey of discovery as this film researches
this remarkable relic, tracing the turbulent history of the Holy Face
from ancient times up to the historic 2006 visit to Manoppello by

Saint John Baptist de La Salle
Patron Saint of Teachers
Edith Stein: The Seventh Chamber
T
his film tells the inspiring story of a 17th
century French priest who reluctantly became
involved in educating poor children and in the
process became the Founder of the Brothers of the
Christian Schools, an order known today as the de
La Salle Christian Brothers. Actor Mel Ferrer gives a
heartfelt performance as St. John Baptist de La Salle,
a priest from a wealthy upper-class family who
gave up everything to serve the needs of educating
poor children, facing tremendous opposition along
the way.
Today there are some 70,000 Lasallian educators,
with about 900 of their educational institutions,
including 64 colleges and universities, who join
over 5,000 Christian Brothers in providing a Catholic
education for a million students. His story is one of
God’s Providence, of great charity and perseverance, and of a genuine application of the Gospel to
daily life in the classroom. His writings have become
educational classics, and his meditations continue to
inspire Catholic educators around the world to “see
Christ beneath the rags of those confided to your
care.” Includes a 16 page collector’s booklet and
Spanish and English subtitles.
“You can perform miracles by touching the hearts of
the students confided to your care, and God asks it of
you since this is the purpose of your work.”

T
his is a moving, artistic portrayal of the life
of Jewish philosopher, Catholic convert and
Carmelite martyr, edith Stein, capturing the interior struggles of this extraordinary woman, as well
as the great conflicts from her decision to convert
to Catholicism. Deeply influenced by the writings
of St. Teresa of Avila, she joined the Carmelites and
took the name of Teresa Benedicta of the Cross,
and was put to death in Auschwitz in 1942, and
canonized by John Paul II in 1998. This film shows
how two worlds were united within her, the Jew
and the Christian, in absolute coherence in her
search for truth. She has become one of the most
beautiful symbols in a horrifying period of history
who sought to transform her sufferings under the
nazis into a journey through the “interior castle” as
the way to mystical union with God. One phrase,
“Love Conquers Fear” embodies her philosophy of
life. Shot in a kind of a rich expressionist realism,
it’s backed by poignant chant music that makes
every frame haunting and alive. Actress Maia
Morgenstern (The Passion of the Christ) stars in a
powerful performance as Stein. In Italian with
English and Spanish subtitles. Includes a 16 page
collector’s booklet with a film essay by Steven
Greydanus and a biography of Teresa Benedicta of
the Cross by Carl Olson.
“A challenging, often fascinating film, The Seventh
Chamber is a gratifying tribute to a great saint.
It shows that for Edith Stein it is only by knowing God
that we know ourselves; only through Jesus
that we know God; and only through the cross
that we can know Jesus.”

Loreto The Mystery of the Holy House
How was the Holy House of the Virgin Mary transported from its original
location in nazareth, Palestine, to the town of Loreto in Italy? For many centuries, scholars from many disciplines have investigated the authenticity of
the walls venerated in Loreto. According to legend and tradition, the house
was carried by Angels in the year 1291, first to a town in Croatia and then
three years later carried again across the Adriatic Sea to Loreto. This is known
as the Miracle of the Translation. Modern academics have theorized that it
was moved by Christian soldiers fleeing the Holy Land near the end of the
Crusades. The entire journey of the Holy House was re-created for this documentary film, with the help of state-of-the-art 3D computer-generated graphics. The Holy House does not rest upon typical structural foundations, and its
presence in Loreto remains a real enigma for contemporary architects. Is this
sacred structure really the same House of Mary, transported all the way from
nazareth? This film gathers all of the available evidence to find the answers.

so many believers do not
have much understanding

mystery of the eucharist,
which Vatican II called the
“source and summit of the Christian life.” This fresh
look at the eucharist brings to light its reality as sacred
meal, the sacrifice necessary for communion with God
and the real presence of Christ.

A Woman Clothed with the Sun
An outstanding 3-film series on eight approved apparitions of Our Lady.
RUE DE BAC, BEAURAING, BANNEUX In 1830, europe was shaken by
revolutions and attacks on the Church. Mary appeared in Rue de Bac, France,
to St. Catherine Labouré with words of admonition and encouragement, and
armed God’s people with the Miraculous Medal. One hundred years later, she
appeared in Belgium and France, calling for penance and prayer.
LaSALETTE, PONTMAIN In 1846, Mary appeared to two poor shepherd
children in LaSalette, France, delivering a call to repentance and warning God’s
people of future dangers. In 1871, in the small French town of Pontmain, she
appeared to the whole village.
GUADALUPE, LOURDES, ZARAGOZA Only seven years after Christ’s
Ascension into Heaven, tradition has it that Our Lady appeared in Zaragoza,
Spain, to guide and protect God’s people. In 1531, Mary appeared to Juan Diego
in Mexico and millions came into the Church. In the 1830s, one of the most
famous of all apparitions took place in Lourdes, France.

The Decalogue
Krzysztof Kieslowski’s The Decalogue, a series of ten one-hour dramas originally made for Polish television before the collapse of Communism, is acclaimed
by critics throughout the world and included on the Vatican top film list.
Though each episode is inspired by one of the Ten Commandments, these
are not simple morality tales. Disturbing scenes of disordered behavior, as well
as moving glimpses of human goodness, force the viewer to ponder the many
ways in which man both breaks and keeps the laws of God.
each episode is self-contained: from Decalogue I (“I Am the Lord Thy God”),
the touching and tragic story of a boy who starts asking his rationalist father
and religious aunt the hard questions of life, to Decalogue X (“Thou Shalt not
Covet Thy neighbor’s Goods”), a comic tale of estranged brothers who bond
through a winding ordeal involving their father’s priceless stamp collection.
The Decalogue is nothing less than a portrait of the human soul.
Not rated by the MPAA, the USCCB classification is A-III—adults. Not recommended for sensitive viewers or those under the age of 17. Content includes depictions
of a murder and an execution, extramarital and nonmarital affairs and encounters (no
explicit nudity), disordered attractions, and references to abortion.
