The C-B-R is reacting to the general longing for activity and experience with a fresh concept and a new name. f.re.e 2009 combines leisure time, travel and recreation. Be there when the most important experience trade fair in southern Germany starts into its 40th year. And you will have a big share of the success, for which there are a lot of good reasons. An Attractive Concept In 2008, more than 102,000 people were filled with enthusiasm by the great variety of offers of the 1,544 exhibitors from 60 countries and the very varied supporting program of C-B-R 2008. Two figures provide impressive proof of this. For example, 68 percent of the visitors expressed interest in a concrete purchase or an order on site. 86 percent expressed a corresponding intention. The exciting event program on various stages was evaluated as „excellent to good“ by 76 percent. No wonder that more than 1,000 journalists from throughout the world reported in more than 2,500 articles about the exhibitors and the trade fair. Visitors with Buying Power The longing for an experience is quasi the basic motivation for people in the Munich metropolitan region. They like traveling, are very active and love nature. Among other things, this might be due to the privileged location at the foothills of the Alps. But it is also due to the demonstrated economic power of the region. For example, 64,260 C-B-R visitors in 2008 were from the high buying power target group of those over 40. A total of 48 percent of all visitors had an adjusted monthly net income of more than 2,600 euros, and 12 percent had even more than 5,000 euros. Seen statistically, that corresponds to a buying power volume of the C-B-R visitors amounting to approximately 200 million euros. Health Germans spent more money than ever for their vacations in 2007. According to calculations by Dresdner Bank, expenditures for foreign travel amounted to an approximate total of 61 billion euros in 2007. This corresponds to an increase of about four percent compared to previous year. This growth rate is above all remarkable because private consumption is stagnating at the same time. This illustrates the outstanding significance of travel for Germans, among whom the Bavarians are tops. With its very varied offers, f.re.e in southern Germany is considered a very decisive and also very popular source of information in planning trips. Trends With sales growth of approx. 3 percent and around 20 billion euros, the tourism sector 2007 was able to pick up on its record level of 2001. Long-distance travel, cruises, city tours and wellness offers especially recorded increases. The segment of customized vacation packages proved to have especially high growth. Germany also remains in vogue as a travel destination. Variety f.re.e is dedicating 30,000 square meters, which corresponds to 48 percent of the overall hall area, to the booming desire to travel and to its partner country Cyprus along with a separate area on the topics golf, travel on water and vacation real estate. There are also plans to give more room to „sustainable tourism“. The German Vehicle Agency in Flensburg registered exactly 4,277 newly licensed caravans from January to March 2008. This corresponds to a slight increase of 0.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. New registration of RVs increased 14.4 percent to 5,604 vehicles at the same time.
