GALATIANS 5:13-25 (NIV)
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom
to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is
fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ If you bite
and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. So I say,
walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh
desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.
They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus
have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let
us keep in step with the Spirit.”

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Mason Heath Gullett
 CALL TO WORSHIP:
L: Welcome, friends, to this House of Prayer for all People where we gather today
to celebrate our freedom in Christ.
P: We understand from the history of our country and current events that
though we are free, freedom has a price.
L: The cost of freedom is more than the price paid by those who have sacrificed to
make us free. Freedom requires a price from all who enjoy its rewards. That
price is responsibility; each of us doing our part to ensure the safety and
welfare of others.
P: May God inspire us this day to do our part in ensuring that the price of
freedom is paid. Amen.
HYMN
“O Worship the King”

No. 104
CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
Prayer of Confession: (In Unison)
God Almighty, we gather on this Independence Day weekend to celebrate the
freedom we have been given in this country we love. The concept of
freedom was directly inspired by you as Jesus Christ offered his life in order
to emancipate us from the law which bound us. Remind us this day that
although we are free, we should not use our freedom as a means to live
selfish lives. Forgive us when we have used our freedom to be self-centered
and neglected our responsibility toward others. In the name of Jesus Christ
our Lord, we pray. Amen.
