VOLUNTEER CORE CONNECTION Happy July! I hope you are well and having a real swell summer! Thank you for showing up and serving at Gilda’s Club, it means so much to our members and to us at Gilda’s. We couldn’t do what we do without you! We always love to see you and if you haven’t been in a while...we’d love to welcome you back and swap summer stories We look forward to seeing you again very soon! ~ Linden Becker, Volunteer Coordinator Lbecker@gildasclubgr.org (616) 453-8300 x138 Serving at Supper Supper time is such an important part of our program; it is a wonderful time for families and friends to join to- gether for a meal at the end of a busy day and connect with one another prior to settling in to their evening support group. We provide supper at 5:30pm Mon-Thurs each week for the members who attend our Cancer & Grief Support Groups that evening. Each evening, we rely on volunteers to help prepare, serve, and even provide parts of the meal. We are currently seeking committed volunteers who might be able to help on a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis. This is a great opportunity for individuals, groups, or families to get involved and give back. Interested in serving at supper? We truly appreciate the support of all the volunteers that attended the First Annual Gilda's Club Open which took place on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Blythefield Country Club. We welcomed 100 golfers for 18 holes at Blythefield Country Club (an LPGA Tour stop this season) followed by a cocktail reception featuring a terrific silent auction, exciting raffle for a TV and fabulous golfer gifts for our contest winners! This first annual event raised a net total of over $18,000 for Gilda's Club Grand Rapids! A big THANK YOU goes out to all of the volunteers that generously gave their time and talent at this year's Fifth Third River Bank Run on Saturday, May 10, 2014! We heard MANY runners saying "thank you" to us for being there. They (and their pets) were very glad to see our smiling faces as we handed out much needed Ice Mountain Water and Gatorade. AND, because of your willingness to lend a hand, Fifth Third River Bank Run will be making a generous donation to Gilda's Club Grand Rapids!
