For someone contemplating a role as a Hospice of Acadiana volunteer, a great way to test the waters is by attending a one-day training. We have one of those scheduled for August 22, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. here in our conference center. Attendees will hear from members of the HOA care team about their respective roles in the process of caring for patients from admission to discharge and for family members beyond the death of their loved ones. That team includes registered nurses, social workers, chaplains, and bereavement counselors. They will also learn from Ann Wallace, Director of Volunteer Services, about the responsibilities of volunteers. If you have friends who might be interested in volunteering or who you think would make a great hospice volunteer, please share this information with them. And have them contact Ann Wallace at 337-232-1234 or ann@hospiceacadiana.com.
