Leading into the future
On behalf of the ESADE Business School community I would like to thank the recruiters worldwide who, for the second year running, have helped maintain our institution
in the number one place in the Wall Street Journal ranking!
Our continued success as a Top 3 business school over the past four years rests
in the long-standing relationships we have forged with recruiters around the world,
along with the new ones we constantly develop. The Career Services team works hard
throughout the year to provide recruiters with flexible and individual attention ensuring we put forward the best candidates to match company vacancies.
ESADE Business School is a highly diverse recruiting source for companies
looking to fill vacancies around the world. 75% of current Full Time MBA participants come from abroad representing over 40 countries. We leverage on-campus
diversity to instil a truly international and multicultural mindset within our student
population.
With an onus on multicultural and cross-functional teamwork, entrepreneurship and
the development of leadership competencies our MBA graduates adapt quickly to
their new jobs generating immediate results.
Readily available to assist companies with their global recruitment needs, Career
Services offers a range of events and personalised services to facilitate interaction
with ESADE Business School’s multicultural student body. We hope this placement
brochure will help you better understand who we are, how our MBA program is structured and how our graduates’ differentiation can help your company excel.
Sincerely,

Camila de Wit
Career Services Director

“ With 50 years experience in management development ESADE
Business School understands the issues facing companies in
today’s competitive marketplace, which is why our MBA is structured around the real world. In today’s global and multicultural
business environment a firm grasp of the hard business skills
is no longer enough to provide a competitive edge. Leadership
competencies enable individuals to manage and capitalise on
diversity as well as leverage relationships which help achieve
corporate objectives.
It is this latter point that makes ESADE Business School’s graduates unique in our recruiters’ eyes. Our distinct participative
methodology emphasises multicultural and cross-functional
teamwork sharpening leadership competencies that ensure our
graduates are prepared to apply their analytical and management skills anywhere in the world.”
Gloria Batllori,
Executive Director

ESADE Business School
in the Rankings
In times when decisions in one country impact businesses, economies, politics, society and the environment in
others, companies compete to attract candidates capable of holistically managing complexity and change. Having
talented employees, with the right competencies, skills and experience in the right positions plays a determining
role in the outcome of business decisions.
For this reason, we are particularly proud that based on the opinions of over 4,000 international recruiters The Wall
Street Journal ranked ESADE Business School best business school worldwide in September 2007. As a Top 3 international business school for the fourth consecutive year, we are pleased that recruiters around the world continue
to keep our candidates top of mind.
International awareness, hands-on multicultural teamwork, adaptability and well-rounded professionals are all
attributes which recruiters around the world have recognised within the student population and reflected in the
rankings scores.
The Wall Street Journal - September 2007
Ranked 1st business school worldwide.
Maintaining its 2006 position and rising from 2nd and 3rd place in 2005 and 2004
respectively, the ranking was based on over 4,000 international recruiters evaluating
alumni competences, probability of repeat recruitment activities at the school and
the number of countries recruiters were based in.
Beyond Grey Pinstripes - October 2005
2nd worldwide.
Conducted by the World Resources Institute and The Aspen Institute, the biannual
ranking measures the level of social and environmental responsibility exposure in
the MBA Program and faculty research.
Business Week - October 2006
7th best business school outside the USA.
A biannual ranking, the publication rates schools along recruiter and MBA candidate
feedback as well as research conducted by professors.
Financial Times - January 2007
10th in Europe and 24th worldwide.
Based on alumni responses, diversity factors and faculty research, ESADE Business
School has enjoyed a steady rise in the worldwide ranking, up 3 places from 2006.
Triple Crown Accreditation:
ESADE Business School is one of the 30 business schools worldwide accredited by
the three most prestigious accreditation organizations (Equis, AACSB, and AMBA),
thus baring the so called “Triple Crown”.

Why recruit at
ESADE Business School?
We realise top MBA recruiters seek talented candidates that not only excel in their analytical skills but who also
have the social skills to confidently interact across organizational hierarchies. The foundation of our long established reputation for producing successful international managers lies in our culture’s focus on developing both the
hard business skills and softer interpersonal competencies.
To help entice your curiosity, we outline just a few reasons to recruit at ESADE Business School.
Diversity. While cultural diversity is an enriching element for participants on the Full Time MBA programs
it also offers advantages to recruiters. With 75% of
students coming from abroad, companies can exploit
on-campus diversity by recruiting for a broad range of
vacancies around the world. Diversity also extends into
the professional experience of ESADE Business School’s
students comprising an interesting mix of functional and
industry backgrounds.
Methodology. To ensure theory is converted into
practical experience, our demanding MBA programs
constantly challenge our candidates’ decision making
and negotiation abilities. As opposed to business
schools that base their methodology solely on the case
approach, ESADE Business School believes that a
varied methodology is key to ensuring students absorb
classroom knowledge. Our programs, therefore, utilize
a mix of theory, case studies, team and individual
assignments, role play and live simulations. Given the
relatively small class sizes, the rigorous programs foster
the acquisition of multifaceted skills and competencies needed by managers to cope with complexity. Our
proven methodology ensures the knowledge and tools
gained on the MBA become second nature to participants.
Teamwork. With up to 30% of a course’s grade being awarded for team performance, teamwork is a core element of
4
our methodology. Simulating real working conditions,
teams are designed and set by Program Management
every term to incorporate members from different
geographic, functional and sector backgrounds. During
team assignments the group competes to achieve
a group grade rather than individual team member
grades. As such, the persons comprising the team must
adapt to each other to ensure the group performs effectively and meets objectives. This creates a cooperative
mindset, fine tunes negotiation skills and develops a
very hands on attitude.
International Managers. Close interaction between the
40+ nationalities on-campus stimulates a rich cultural
interchange and foments a global outlook. Students
benefit from the diverse perspectives by learning to
analyze situations from different angles and by developing sensitivity to cultural differences. By fostering
synergistic dynamics through continuous cross-functional and multicultural teamwork, candidates learn from
each other and develop holistic international management skills. Fruit of the inquisitiveness generated
by the daily interaction between cultures, geographic
mobility characterizes our students with all candidates opting for international experiences during
their MBA whether through internships, exchange
programs, International Study Abroad Weeks or
Dual Degrees.
Personal and flexible recruiting services. As a relatively
small business school, we are able to offer a high
degree of flexibility to recruiters and students with the
objective of ensuring smooth recruiting processes. The
Career Services team provides recruiters with unparalleled personal attention and is always open to receiving
new suggestions to help you meet your hiring needs.
Leadership competencies. Recognizing the demand
for managers capable of successfully leading international teams and adapting to fast moving global
markets, our MBA programs help students identify
and develop key leadership competencies through the
Leadership Assessment and Development Program
(LEAD). A mix of individual and group activities, 360º
evaluations, coaching sessions and teamwork, LEAD
ensures the continuous development of managerial
competencies enabling graduates to detect and build
on their own strengths and weaknesses relative to
their professional objectives.
Entrepreneurship. Identifying new business opportunities, developing feasibility studies, securing finance,
successfully launching business plans and effectively
managing projects are important skills in the corporate
world. As such, entrepreneurship is a requisite course
on our MBA programs which nurtures out-of-the-box
thinking even if candidates do not intend on starting
their own businesses upon graduation. Candidates
joining companies upon graduation transfer entrepreneurship and creative problem solving concepts in
their new careers, essentially becoming “intrapreneurs” that instill innovation within an existing corporate
culture.
Multilingual. ESADE Business School leverages its
Executive Language Centre by integrating language
instruction into the MBA core curriculum. During the
first academic year of the 18-month program, participants can choose between the English or Spanish
track. By Term 3, all candidates are fluent enough in
both languages to choose electives given in either one.
Similarly, the first six months of the One Year MBA are
taught in English but parallel Spanish classes ensure
fluency in both languages. Students entering the MBA
program with a good command of both languages are
encouraged to take alternative language courses.
Corporate Social Responsibility. As leaders in Corporate Social Responsibility, our faculty train MBA participants in the latest theory in the field. While provided
with the tools and insights to ensure profitability is
reached, our candidates are also focused on sustainability and socially responsible decision making. Recruiters frequently commend the loyalty our candidates
demonstrate to their employers.

ESADE Business School
TALENT RECRUITMENT EVENTS
Career Services hosts Talent Recruitment Events throughout the academic year to facilitate face to face interaction
between recruiters and candidates. Adapted to industry recruiting timelines, we strongly encourage company initiatives
on-campus to ensure they remain top of mind and preferred employers within our student population.
MBA Career Week: 22nd-26th October 2007
Although featuring companies from diverse industries,
this event primarily focuses on the consulting and
financial sectors which have earlier internship and job
application deadlines than other sectors.
International Career Day: 14th November 2007
Launching in 2007, this new event has been designed for
international companies wanting to recruit senior (MBAs)
and junior (MSc) profiles on-campus. The day consists of
two presentations per company, one for each target group.
MBA Career Forum: 4th & 5th February 2008
Held every February the MBA Career Forum attracts multinational companies across all main industries enabling
leading employers to communicate with MBA participants
through company presentations and interactive sessions
at company stands.
Corporate Presentations: All year round
Corporate Presentations are an effective platform to initiate contact with MBA candidates for companies choosing
to come on-campus aside from the above events.
Networking Events: All year round
Companies opting for a more informal outreach towards
students, whether on or off-campus, also host breakfasts,
lunches, cocktails or dinners as well as other events such
as case study practices.
On-campus Interviews: All year round
Modern installations are available on-campus all year
round free of charge for face to face, telephone and
videoconference interviews.
The above events are an excellent opportunity for recruiters to reach out to top talent on the Full Time and Part
Time MBA programs on a one to one basis. Companies usually maximise on-campus presence to interview candidates and begin recruitment processes. Please note that to facilitate recruiter access to our 500+ MBA candidates,
no classes are scheduled during the MBA Career Week, International Career Day and MBA Career Forum.
11
CORPORATE INTERNSHIPS & PROJECTS
Benefiting from candidate analytical and cross-functional skills on a low risk, low cost basis, Corporate
Internships & Projects are an excellent platform for
employers to screen potential full time hires within a
real life working environment.
Students on the 18-month MBA are available for full
time internships or projects worldwide from early June
to early September.
In Barcelona, or cities where ESADE Business School has
international exchange agreements, internships can be extended on a part time basis from October onwards. During this
period, One Year MBA participants can also undertake part
time internships or projects in Barcelona.
We strongly encourage full time MBA participants to implement the skills developed during the program through
corporate internships or projects.
POSTING OFFERS
To facilitate company recruitment processes and tap into
our talent pool, Career Services has developed a free
internship and job posting facility.
In 2006, the Business School’s Career Services team managed 2500 internship and job offers on the employment
portal alone from 1,500 companies in over 30 countries.
With close to 10,000 registered members of the Alumni
Association, the job offer posting service enables recruiters to access a wide talent pool.
STUDENT CV SEARCH TOOLS
We also provide online and printed CV search tools for
recruiters. Our online CV search platform, www.esade.
jobs, enables recruiters to browse through individual
candidate profiles on the different programs according
to selective criteria.
CV Books featuring the profiles of the second year participants on the Full Time and Part Time MBA programs
are published annually. Additionally, at the beginning of
each academic year, we produce Corporate Internships
and Projects brochures which provide a synopsis of each
student’s professional experience on the 18-month and
One Year MBA programs.
Please feel free to contact us for login details to our

“As a comparatively small business school, class interaction and the amount of individual
attention received, whether from Program Management, Professors or Career Services is second
to none. ESADE Business School believes that learning doesn’t only take place through the
faculty but also through learning from peer experiences. As such the institutional culture
and courses are set up to stimulate as much knowledge transfer as possible through continuous teamwork. With a highly international student population, teams aren’t only set up
to create a balanced functional mix but also to foster multicultural groups where different
perspectives grow exponentially.
Unlike other MBA teaching methodologies where team members eventually compete against
each other to achieve the highest possible individual grade, at ESADE Business School teams
seek synergy in order to achieve as high a group grade as possible. I learned a lot about international teamwork during my MBA and walked back into the professional world confident in
my multicultural management skills and leadership competencies”.

Strategy &
International Management
Strategic planning, international management, corporate strategy and other similar functions navigate organizations towards common growth objectives as the areas with the
broadest global view of a company’s activities, core competencies and markets.
A firm grasp of all business functions, strategic vision,
analytical skills, complexity management, leadership
competencies and international outlook are necessary
to be successful at the company’s helm. Through theory
and practical sessions (including live strategy games,
intricate management simulations and case study
competitions) the Strategy & International Management track prepares candidates to be successful
cross-functional managers across different industries
and geographical locations.
Through constant contact with the worldwide business
community, international research projects and reciprocal visiting lectureship agreements with partner schools
around the world, faculty experience in this area is extensive and global. Exposure to business reality across
different regions and sectors filters through into an
enriching classroom experience with MBA participants
benefiting from an innovative, engaging and diverse
teaching methodology.
With ever increasing pressure on creating and nurturing
competitive advantage, students are required to fulfil a
minimum amount of credits in Entrepreneurship but can
also opt to specialize in the area during their elective
year. The entrepreneurship courses focus on sustaining
innovation within existing companies as well as providing frameworks for the starting-up of a new business.

“Each year, Citi hires candidates from ESADE Business
School into several international business divisions and our
relationship with ESADE just keeps getting stronger.
We value the diversity found at ESADE Business School and
the financial knowledge their MBA candidates bring to us.
We find the hands-on team approach of ESADE candidates
enables them to hit the ground running.”

“Prior to my MBA I was running my own retail business and
working as a management consultant, but always wanted
to work in investment banking. I knew I needed to acquire
in-depth financial and industry knowledge in order to make
the jump and decided to pursue an MBA at ESADE Business School to bridge the gap.
With the assistance of Career Services I secured an
amazing ten week internship within the Equities division of
Morgan Stanley. Following a period of induction and initial
training I experienced individual rotations in most functional areas, exposure to senior management and worked
on several interesting and challenging projects. I enjoyed
a degree of flexibility allowing me to focus on my interests
and strengths throughout the program which eventually led
to a full time offer.”

for real life situations.
Over the past three years, ESADE Business School has
seen a strong increase in candidates being recruited
into financial positions not only within the financial
services sector but also within industry. Propelled by
