They held a candlelight vigil for Robert Lewis last Wednesday on the corner of 57th and Rodman Street - just north of Cedar Avenue. That’s where Robert Lewis, 53, took his last breath after being shot to death during an argument Saturday (August 14) over what - not too many people are sure what started this tragic encounter. Whatever it was, it shouldn’t have cost this father of four his life. “He went to help a friend,” relates his son, Tyree Lewis, who called his father a “peace maker” and a man who tried to help others. In this case, Lewis said his father was summoned by Robert Lewis a friend to help end an argument over a possible parking issue not far from his home on the 5600 Block of Hazel Avenue. Once there, the argument apparently became heated and guns were drawn. A Robert Lewis coworker reads a tribute to her fallen colleague at the candlelight vigil. Overbrook Learning Center 7708 City Line Avenue 2nd Floor, Suite 215 Philadelphia, PA 19151 When I had first watched the Warner Brother Pictures' “The Lottery Ticket,” a comedy starring Bow Wow, Ice Cube, Brandon T. Jackson, Naturi Naughton, Keith David, Loretta Devine, Charlie Q Murphy(Eddie Murphy’s brother) and Terry Crews, this brought back a flashback of the summer of August 1986, the very first and only time that I played the lottery! And speaking about the lottery I recently had the chance to join my friend Actress-Dancer-Singer Debra T. Smallwood to do a telephone interview with Bow Wow, Brandon T. Jackson and Naturi Naughton, who were at one of Los Angeles, California’s lavish and stylish hotels' to talk about their starring roles. I received the opportunity to get the interview started by asking Bow Wow the first question. “When audiences leave Bow Wow, Brandon T. Jackson and Naturi Naughton from a scene in “Lottery Ticket” movie theatres after watching “Lottery Ticket.” besides being entertained by this film, would you also like them to leave with a message gained from it too? “Well Lottery Ticket is a funny movie but, it’s also got an important message at its core," he explained. “And you know man for my character, Kevin Carson hitting the lottery is awesome, but the turn of events that follows also turns into the craziest and most difficult time. My friend Debra asked the next question of Comedian-Actor Brandon T. Jackson. What was it like on the movie set and do you consider this film to be more than just another comedy? “It was fun. We had a good time, he said. “The chemistry between Bow Wow and Naturi is like our chemistry in this movie. But this film was like a spring break, like everybody just having fun. It didn’t feel like we were filming." I then asked Naturi Naughton the last question. “Naturi, You gave excellent performances in “Fame,” and ‘Notorious.” What inspired you to appear in a comedy? “Wow, well Lottery Ticket kinda came to me while I was in L.A., where I would connect with Erik White, the director of this movie," she explained. "He has been following my career ever since the time we worked together." "Ever since then I realized when I read the script, I wanted to be involved because it wasn’t just a comedy. It was a comedy I felt that was going to make us think about what we should be doing with our money or how we should be giving back to our communities and I like that premise.!” I found this film to be an enjoyable, hilarious and entertaining where everyone in this motion picture really taps into a similar rhythm and momentum and that’s what makes “Lottery Ticket,” so funny and real! And this is a movie that I highly recommend to check out this weekend.
