TM Student Handwork 1 Summer 2013 God’s Helpers Family • Obedience Helping Others TM seeds of fai d th in nting Pla early childhoo ry a m i r Pre-P Note to the Teacher This book has been prepared for a pre-kindergarten child. The book is perforated so you can tear out each sheet, complete it in class, and send it home with the child. Each page includes directions for completing the learning activities on that page. Encourage the child to take his paper home and share it with his parents and other family members. The parents’ letter is on page 3. Send it to the home on the first Sunday of the quarter, or deliver it personally before the quarter begins. In preparation for the quarter, you may want to take all the handwork books apart and cut around all the stickers. Put all the lesson 1 sheets and lesson 1 stickers in a folder; put all lesson 2 sheets and lesson 2 stickers in another folder or envelope; continue for all thirteen lessons. This saves time during the week, and you have everything together for Sunday. If a child is absent, be sure he receives his handwork sheet (and any stickers or additional pieces) and Planting Faith at Home leaflet the week following his absence. This book includes a memory verse chart and memory verse stickers. Post each child’s chart (inside back cover of the book) on the wall or bulletin board next to his attendance chart. Give each child his verse sticker the week after you teach the verse in class; e.g., on June 9 give him the baby sticker for Galatians 5:13. Using the Handwork Sheet This resource will help you review the Bible lesson and memory verse with your students. As the children are working on their handwork sheets, talk about the Bible story or its application. Help each child put his name on his paper. Summer Quarter 2013 Planting Faith at Home W e appreciate your bringing your child to Sunday School each week. We know that families take vacations and have other obligations in the summertime. Thank you for making Sunday School a priority! Truth Is Practical The three units of this summer quarter deal with family, obeying, and helping others. The truths presented in these lessons—and lived out in the lives of Biblical characters—are practical ones. Your pre-primary child can put into practice showing love to family members, obeying parents and others whom God has placed over him, and helping others with a willing spirit. Encourage your child in these areas, and let him know that you notice his progress. You will find the quarter overview and a list of the stories and verses on the back of this letter. An Invitation Some adults think Sunday School is only for children. We want you to know that we have a class for every person in your family—from the youngest to the oldest! If you are not in the habit of attending Sunday School with your child, we invite you to stay and attend an adult class. Your own spiritual life will be enriched as you study with other adults. Thank you again for the privilege of teaching your child! We will look forward to a great summer together. Sincerely, (teacher) Quarter Overview Weeks 1–5 Family in this unit your child will learn about some special family members whose deeds are recorded in scripture. from these accounts, your child will learn about bravery, giving, and love—qualities he can exhibit in his family right now. Weeks 6–9 Obedience obedience is a theme we come back to time and again. that’s because learning to obey is not learned in one or two lessons or even one or two months. young children need to have good models of obedience; then they need opportunities to obey in similar ways. We will look at three Biblical examples of obedience and encourage your child to obey as these Bible characters did. Weeks 10–13 Helping Others like obedience, helping is a common emphasis for young children. these lessons will introduce your child to some Bible characters he may not know. he will learn practical ways to help others as we see the ways these Bible people helped others. Glue fabric on Miriam’s dress and color the river with a blue glitter pen. Color the picture. INSTRUCTIONS: Place the teddy bear sticker in the dotted outline. Listen to your teacher read the poem. Draw a line from the part of the poem to the picture it tells about. Color the pictures. Find and circle Itty Bitty, the ladybug. I’m a Little Helper I’m a helper every day. I try to show God’s love. I can help in a small way And please my Lord above. When Mommy’s sink has dishes high, And she has lots to do, I’ll get a towel and shout,“I’ll dry!” “I don’t mind helping you.” When baby sister drops her toy I know just what to do! “Here you go,” I say with joy, “I‘ll get your toy for you.” When Daddy has hard jobs to do I can get him tools he needs. I can help do some things, too, Like sweep the walk and pull the weeds. These jobs don’t seem like much at all, But helping others is God’s way. And even though I am still small, I’ll help my family every day. God’s Word says: “Through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13).
