The 3 special instructors from the head quarter were: Yusma Yusof, Wan Aishah and Rosmin Md Amin. 03 3 Dec 2014 (Wednesday) Meeting with TTC and other colleges management staff: A few possibilities were discussed. Each side wished for ideas to materialise soon. a) Staff and students exchange. b) Staff and students industrial attachments. c) To continue collaboration in English Language with TTC through Asean TVET English Programme. 04 3 Dec 2014 (Wednesday) Our students spent the night practising a few numbers and traditional dances under POLIMAS trainer, Syahidatul Muniza. The others helped out with the rehearsal. The songs were: Malaysia Baru and Politeknik Malaysia. The dance routines were: Tarian Canggung and Joget Pahang. TTC director, Mr Prasong Yoothong and Abdul Rahman could no longer let the fun passed by. The director was sure a dancer. All the students enjoy Chicken Dance too! 05 4 Dec 2014 (Thursday) Early in the day, we were invited to the TTC assembly. Yusma Yusof and I were honoured to be given the opportunity to go on the stage and placed the vase on the special altar. That was a gesture of respect to King Bhumipol who celebrates his birthday on every 5th of December. There was the King's framed picture behind the altar. Later, each one of us signed the Well Wishes book in conjunction with the King 87's birthday. The TTC Director delivered his speech followed by Thailand National Anthem. 06 4 Dec 2014 (Thursday) We took the opportunity to visit Krabi Polytechnic College, about one and a half hour drive from Trang. The director is Mr Parinya @ Abdul Rahman, a Muslim. He has been to our headquarter, JPP, in March 2014. He speaks Bahasa Melayu with Thai accent. A few poor students from Krabi Polytechnic received some monetary assistance from POLIMAS. For lunch, Mr Parinya took us to a restaurant by the sea which is next to a jetty. The sea food variety is very fresh as the catch is brought straight to the kitchen by the fishermen. The locals are very friendly. 07 4 Dec 2014 (Thursday) In the afternoon, we did our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Pondok Darussalam, Nuaklong District, Krabi. We were warmly welcomed by the caretakers of the small 'school'; Ustaz Shyafir Kulmas, Ustaz Mohd Taofek Kulmas and villagers. The poor and orphan pupils were: Arofah Suksai, Eimron Suksai, Hafizim Samart, Jamilah Kulpo, Kholifah Neauhad, Mohamad Hafa, Farida Naitbut, Aisyah Raiyan and Sukainah Sittimon. The Thais showcased their traditional dances and everyone joined Loy Kratong routine. Nazamuddin flew in from KLIA in the morning to discuss possible tie-up in sports and games. L-R: Hamid, Nazamuddin, BAKRI, Mr Songphon, Prasong, Abdul Rahman, Mr Prasong’s wife and Prayut. 09 5 Dec 2014 (Friday) To date, King Bhumipol is the longest reigning King in the world and the most revered King in Thailand. His birthday is celebrated in every nook and cranny in the country. Trang which is 1 of 74 provinces in Thailand held his official birthday reception at the City Hall, in the city centre. All top government officers wearing their special uniforms converged to sign the Attendance Book before attending the ceremony. On the day, there were only two foreigners wearing black coats; Abdul Rahman and I. The ASEAN TVET English Programme was perfectly timed during His Majesty Birthday Celebration. 10 5 Dec 2014 (Friday) To the unknown, these top ranking officers were probably from Thailand Immigration and Custom departments. I never knew. TTC Director must be a very famous person in Trang. He seemed to know everyone in the hall. He would say; In the hall before the event began "Come Bakri, I will introduce you to my friends. You stand in the middle, beside me". Then he would tell his friends, "This is Bakri, my friend from Malaysia". Sure there is an advantage of being in black rather than white. No, no thank you, I’m not defecting.... 11 5 Dec 2014 (Friday) The ceremony has not started. It was time to continue taking pictures. On my left were the top 3 from Trang Technical College; Mr Prasong Yoothong (director), Mr Prayut and Mr Sahat (deputy directors). Everyone is waiting for the Governor of Trang to initiate the ceremony. Trang is considered as one of the southern provinces of Thailand facing the Andaman Sea with a land area of 5,000 square km. Its neighbouring provinces are Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phattalung and Satun. It is said that rubber saplings were first brought from Malaya by Phraya Ratsadanupradit in 1899. His statue was erected in the Prayaratsada Park of which we later visited. 12 5 Dec 2014 (Friday) Trang which is one of the provinces in Thailand comprises of 10 districts: Mueang Trang, Kantang, Yan Ta Khao, Palian, Sikao, Huai Yot, Wang Wiset, Na Yong, Ratsada and Hat Samran. Trang Airport is 7 km from the city centre but just across the street from TTC. The 2 airlines serving Trang - Bangkok route are AirAsia and Nok Air. The symbol of Trang City is a Clock Tower. L-R: Bakri, Vice Governor II (Mr Songphon Jaigrim), Vice Governor I, Abdul Rahman The governor of Trang is Mr Somsak Parisuttohemtanon with 2 deputies.
