Frank Llo yd Wright
Furniture® By Copeland
This classic line continues to grow and
we will soon have a beautiful plant
stand and hall table in our showroom
for your review. Copeland Furniture
has also recently expanded the
bedroom and dining room collections
by introducing a new bed style from
the J. Kibben Ingalls residence built in
1909, several more dresser and mirror
options, as well as additional dining
table and buffet sizes.
Three new chairs are also in production.
One occasional chair is from the 1902
Heurtley House in Oak Park, Illinois.
Like the Barrel Chair, the Heurtley chair
is one of those timeless pieces that
Wright liked so much he had it in his
own house, Taliesin in Spring Green,
Wisconsin. This chair has a slatted
back and leather seat.
Another iconic classic from Wright’s
Prairie Era is the “Morris” type recliner
from the 1906 Dana-Thomas House
in Springfield, Illinois which features
diagonal front legs. This chair has a
somewhat solid back with a pillow on
the seat.
The third chair is from the master
bedroom of the Dana-Thomas house.
All pieces will be available for shipment
in August.
We have recently been informed that
prices on some of the pieces will
increase effective August 1, 2007 so
now would be the perfect time to
add a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright
reproduction to your home.

Where did everybody go
and who are these new
people?
and to our customers. We enjoyed having
them as part of the McKinnon team and
wish them both the very best of success
in their new adventures.
It’s been a time of change this spring
at McKinnon Furniture. Some of our
very long-time designers are moving
on and branching out beyond the
McKinnon world.
We are pleased to introduce our newest
members of the showroom team: Joyce
Granger and Debra Tenut.
At the showroom, Renee Riper, who
had been with us for over nine years,
has recently taken a sales and design
position with a commercial office
furniture company where she will be able
to expand her horizons in the design
field. Lara Petitclerc-Stokes has joined
her husband in Baker City, Oregon where
he has taken a position as the library
director. We thank Renee and Lara for
their many contributions to our business
Joyce is an East Coast girl. She was born
and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Her love of the Pacific Ocean and
mountains lead her to move to the
surrounding islands in the early-90’s.
She has a varied sales background
(Kayaks to French reproduction furniture)
and recently began attending the Interior
Design program (a FIDER accredited) at
Bellevue Community College.
Debra hails from the straight talking, blue
collar, Harley riding town of Milwaukee,
Wisconsin.
With
her
extensive
background in floral design she made
the leap to Seattle in the mid-80’s and
has worked within the design field ever
since. She holds a BFA in fine arts, a
2nd degree in Interior Design and has
worked very closely alongside designers,
creating CAD drawings in the field of
business interiors.
Both Joyce and Debra will be available
to do in-home design consultations.
Please check our website for additional
details.
And to complete the circle, we welcome
back Michelle Dougherty who has
returned after a three-year hiatus in
Vermillion, South Dakota, where her
husband, Michael O’Meara, just received
his Juris Doctorate in Law.

Carriole bed saves lives
of McKinnon Furniture
customers.
It was a dark and stormy night and while
most of us were sleeping snug in our
beds, Oliver & Judy Mills were thanking
their lucky stars.
Back in 1997 they’d purchased a queen
Q U A R T E R L Y
Carriole bed from McKinnon Furniture
that would (on this particular evening) be
credited with saving their lives.
During the fierce windstorm that blew
through the area in December of last year,
a gigantic tree fell through their roof and
directly into their bedroom striking the
headboard. The force of the fall cracked
the solid hardwood headboard into a
few different pieces, but protected its
slumbering occupants.
N E W S L E T T E R
“Quite possibly our McKinnon bed saved
our lives” wrote Judy after the event.
“Once our insurance company has done
their part, we look forward to ordering
another”.
We are all very proud of our solid
craftsmanship, especially so on this
occasion. Thanks to the Mills for sharing
their story and returning to reorder one
of the toughest beds this side of the
Mississippi.
FROM THE SHOP
From
The Shop
Left:
Sheila McKinnon
We have had
a number of
changes at the shop as well.
We have recently said goodbyes to:
Todd Hewitt who left in January
to pursue more design work at
Henry Built in Seattle. Todd was an
excellent craftsman and is missed at
our shop.
Randy Hambley, an employee for
almost 10 years, decided to pursue
warmer California weather, and has
planned to move to San Diego. We
wish him the best.

Andy Neel, our master of many
products, will move to Nashville,
Tennessee at the end of May. He and
his wife Colleen, and their sons Arlo
and Collum look forward to sunshine
and being closer to family.
Arlen Olson, who worked on our bed
team, has taken a position with Delta
Marine. We wish him well.
We are pleased to welcome our newest
woodworkers:
Joe Guillemette is our new Home
Office Team Leader. Joe grew up in
New Hampshire, attending college
there and in Arundel, England. After
college, he worked as a wood finisher
before moving to Seattle in 1997,
where he worked for The Stranger
and began a freelance woodworking
business. Joe met his wife Nissa, a
designer in Seattle, and they were
married in 2005.
Taking charge of building nightstands
and occasional tables is Jerri
Andreasen. Jerri was raised in
California, and worked in Tech
Support and Web Design for a
number of years. After three years
with Microsoft in Seattle, she decided
to take on a new career, and entered
the Wood Construction Center at
Seattle Central Community College.
She and her partner Liz Andreasen
have an 8 year old daughter Maya.
Andy Bookwalter is a Northwest
native, growing up in Issaquah, and
graduating from Evergreen College.
He worked at Amazon for seven
years, but tired of the confines of
an office. After graduating from the
Wood Construction Center, he has
taken on building tansus and dining
case goods for McKinnon Furniture.
Andy and his wife Melissa have two
sons; Jake is almost 3, and Emmett
is 6 months old.

Arts & Crafts carpet collection
We’ve been on the
lookout for traditionally, hand knotted carpets that are
created in a socially
responsible manner
and our patience
has paid off. We are
proud to introduce
a new product to
our showroom from
“The Persian Carpet”
company.
These beautiful pieces of art are authentically crafted in the
British Arts & Crafts,
Celtic Revival and
American Prairie styles reflecting the
era between 1875 and 1925. The
designs are by
such well-known
figures as William
Morris, Charles
Voysey and Archibald
Knox.
There are a number of patterns
available in over
twelve sizes including runners.
They are hand
knotted
using
100% New Zealand wool yarn.
Come and see for
yourself the unique
beauty they can
create in your home. Or check them
out at www.persiancarpet.com.
Another New Edition
We are very honored to announce the
custom ordered delivery of baby Ava
Rose. With ten wiggly fingers and cute
little toes, she arrived on the scene
April 19th around 7:30 pm much to
the delight of her parents and all of
us here at McKinnon Furniture. She
is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of wellcrafted art. Heartfelt congratulations
to parents Kirk, Jenny and newly
crowned “Big brother” Sam.

Here, now and yesterday Society Presents
New Products:
West End Light
As many of you already know, good
things take time to create. This is
especially true with beautiful furniture.
However, for those of you who want it
here, now & yesterday we have begun to
list the occasional “floor model” on our
website. These pieces have all the bells
and whistles of our other handcrafted
work. It’s just that their dimensions, wood
choice, etc. have become discontinued
for whatever reason.
Hawaiian born into a Naval family, J.B.

circling the globe and growing an affinity
for nature.
As a second alternative, there is our

can connect you directly with McKinnon
customers wanting to find a new home
for their past purchases.

In his youth he sidestepped into managing
political campaigns but, “found it difficult
to get clean at night”. So fate intervened
and found him directing a path toward
teaching elementary school and creating
custom lighting.
Using mica mixed from the East Coast,
hand hammed copper bases and his
own fabric and woodworking talents, the
results are illuminated creations that are
a beauty to behold. J.B. recommends
using compact florescent bulbs for his
lamps, not only for their environmental
benefits, but because they accent the
shades nicely.
