The agreement continues in the tradition of previous successful years. The history of providing the utility support for the entire series of this running competition dates back into 1997. The company shall supply more than 800 ecological portable toilets, 60 portable sinks, shower trailers, mobile offices, almost 400 square metres of tent area including several tens of sets of tables and benches, and almost 20 kilometres of mobile fences and barriers. “We are glad for the continuing partnership, as it is a testimony of our effort to satisfy entirely all the demanding technical requirements of providing the utility support for the Prague International Marathon as well as our determination to offer always a little more. AND MAINTAIN IT AFTER THE MARATHON TOO Ecology is a subject which features firmly on the minds of RunCzech Running League organisers in planning the marathon, and they remain committed to looking after the environment. This is only possible thanks to cooperation with Komwag, a company dedicated to cleaning up the city and carrying out maintenance work. The motto for this year’s cooperation is: “Let’s give waste a second chance.”All the waste including advertising flyers, start numbers and tape marking out the course, are handed over for use as either material or energy. One example of this is using PET bottles to make t-shirts. Ondřej Brouček from the RunCzech Organising Team explains: “Not one single board will go to landfill. We’ll be putting all wooden material, such as from dismantled pallets, into huge containers provided by Kronospan.” Any leftover wood will be used to make furniture, particle boards, shuttering and worktops, window sills etc. “As a team, by streamlining logistics for instance, we’re also making a conscious effort to adopt an ecologically-friendly approach, thereby setting an example to those taking part in our events,” Brouček adds. It goes without saying that containers will be provided to separate waste, ensuring all waste will sent for immediate sorting after the race. This means we can be one hundred percent sure that waste is treated in an ecological manner. In addition to the above, in terms of output and property features, the machines used for cleaning roads and pavements will reduce PM10 waste product, i.e. air-born dust particles. Information boards will be placed in areas around the races, prompting people to use public transport instead of personal vehicles and encouraging them to strictly adhere to separating waste. “Let’s give waste a second chance” is a belief shared by the organisers, its representatives as well as Komwag. Together we can save our earth for the next generation.
