The Order of Mass—29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Procession:
Eye Has Not Seen
Refrain
Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,
what God has ready for those who love him;
Spirit of love, come, give us the mind of Jesus,
teach us the wisdom of God.
1.
When pain and sorrow weigh us down,
be near to us, O Lord,
forgive the weakness of our faith,
and bear us up within your peaceful word.
Refrain
2.
Our lives are but a single breath,
we flower and we fade,
yet all our days are in your hands,
so we return in love what love has made.
Refrain
3.
To those who see with eyes of faith,
the Lord is ever near,
reflected in the faces of all the poor
and lowly of the world.
Refrain
4.
We sing a myst'ry from the past
in halls where saints have trod,
yet ever new the music rings
to Jesus, Living Song of God.
Refrain

Blessing and Dismissal
Hail, Holy Queen
Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and
our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this
valley of tears! Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show
unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement,
O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V: Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R/: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Retiring Procession:
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and
snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of
the heavenly hosts, by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Please cut out and keep this notice for the dates
when the school has an open house for parents
who are considering St. Thecla School.
Our school has two Apple large screen TV’s
that allow a teacher to access unlimited
educational material from their i-pad. The
entire class can see the material and teachers
can guide students to access and study the
material on their personal i-pads.
St. Thecla Football:
The JV and DFL teams had byes last
week. The Varsity team played St Raphael
and lost a tough game in overtime, 26 - 20.
All 3 teams come back home this Suday to
Notre Dame as they face another rival, St
Mary of the Woods.
The DFL team plays at 11:00 am, JV at
1:00 and Varsity at 2:30 pm. There are
only two more regular season games as the
Falcons are making their push towards the
playoffs.
Please come out to support the Falcons this
Sunday for what is sure to be a heated
rivalry game. The home crowd has helped
us all season long and we will need big fan
support as we face the always-tough
Knights.

Our Faith
GOD’S WORK OF SALVATION
God’s work of salvation is the focus of this weekend’s readings. From the prophetic event of Isaiah to
Jesus’ understanding of the human condition in Hebrews, concluding with Jesus paying our ransom in Mark,
God is in control. There may be failings and misunderstandings along the way. We may move away from
God, but at our conversion, God leads us back. Like James and John, we may let greed and power blur our
vision of what Jesus wants us to know about the Kingdom; but tirelessly we are taught and re-taught what life
in the Kingdom will be. Jesus has paid our ransom to ensure that we will share in the Kingdom.
It is not unusual to think of Jesus’ ransom as a punishment that he endured. However, it is more accurate,
and more like Jesus, for us to recognize ransom as God’s gift to us.

Parish Life
Religious Education News Classes for the 2015-16 school-year have started. If you have not yet registered,
but would like to do so, please contact the Religious Education Office as soon as possible. You can call the
Parish Office at 773-792-3077 or e-mail rmazzoni@saintthecla.org. Remember that sacrament preparation is a
two year program, so those wishing to receive the sacraments of Communion or Confirmation in 2017, need
to begin this year. We are also still in need of volunteers to be aids in the classrooms. If you are willing to
share your time to help out, please contact the Religious Education Office.
Music Ministry: Choir practice is Wednesday at 7pm in church. Please contact Aaron Dixon for more
information. 773-792-3077 x215 adixon@saintthecla.org
Eucharistic Adoration: On Wednesdays at 1pm, the church is open for the Exposition
and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, concluding with Benediction at 3pm. At
this time, people come together to pray and be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Consider
bringing someone with you...or bring their concerns, fears and struggles and speak with
our Lord about them. Scripture is filled with moments when people brought the sick
and those burdened directly to Jesus.
St. Thecla Women’s Council: Our next meeting of the Women’s Council takes place on
Tuesday, October 20, in Moriarty Hall. All women are invited to join us; annual dues are
$10.00 or $5.00 for those over 75 years young.
Remind your family and friends to join us for the Haunted House. Volunteers are still
needed to pass out candy on Saturday October 24th and 31st from noon until 2pm for the
children attending the no scare. Please contact Jackie Smith @ 773-919-1265 if you can
help. Save the date for our annual Art & Craft Fair on Nov. 21st from 9am -4pm. Help is
needed for set up on Friday (the evening before) as well as bakers and workers for the fair. Contact Maribeth
773-266-3831 or Terry 773-631-0215 if you can help. Thank you for joining us in our support for our parish
and we encourage and warmly welcome you to join us.
The used clothing bin generated $62.08. Thank you!

with M-F 9am-5pm availability, looking to build your resume or lend a hand? Starting at the end of
October onward, your help is needed to prepare bottles (clean, tag, and box them) for our next Baby Bottle

Módlmy się również o nowe i święte powołania
misyjne, aby nie zabrakło ludzi, którzy będą całym
swoim życiem, energią i zapałem wsiewać ziarno
ewangelicznej prawdy w ludzkie serca, które jeszcze
Chrystusa nie znają.
Uznajmy na początku tych świętych celebracji naszą
grzeszność, abyśmy z czystym sercem mogli złożyć
Bogu Ofiarę Jego Syna.
.
Wstęp do liturgii słowa
Każdy z nas jest powołany przez Boga do świętości.
Bóg pragnie, abyśmy z ufnością przybliżyli się do
Chrystusa, od którego możemy otrzymać łaskę
przebaczenia i miłosierdzia.
bezinteresownej służby naszym siostrom i braciom.

What are the haunted house reviews saying
about St. Thecla’s haunted house? Just wanted
everyone to know that Horror Tourers really enjoyed their visit last Saturday night - possibly our
best visit to Hair Razor yet. Creative scenes and
some unexpected scares, too - hats off to all of the
actors and everyone who puts Hair Razor together
- we love it!
