With your support, Wayside Waifs has come a very long way since our founder, Fenby Webster, established the organization. Seventy years later, our facility now includes a 50-acre campus with a 47,000 square foot state-of-the-art animal shelter and beautiful pet memorial park. Unfortunately, the challenge to save animal lives in our community has only grown since Fenby Webster courageously started Wayside Waifs and our mission remains as clear today as it was in 1944. Pet adoption remains a top focus. Your gifts in 2014 found forever homes for 4,301 dogs, cats, and small mammals. Our three large adoption events, Adopt-a-thon, MegaMatch, and our Annual Holiday Open House were successful in adopting a total of 515 animals! Your support and participation at Fur Ball and Strutt With Your Mutt, our signature events, raised necessary funds and awareness of our mission. A special thanks to Fur Ball Event Chairs Brad and Libby Bergman and Honorary Chairs George and Leslie Brett for lending their volunteer leadership to the 20th Annual Fur Ball Gala: “Our Waifs Are in A League of Their Own” in May. Then in September 1,000+ dogs and their companions descended upon the Brookside Neighborhood for the 24th Annual Strutt With Your Mutt. It truly was a day to celebrate our canine companions. Partnerships continue to be critical to our mission. We are honored to partner with a growing number of businesses in the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, including Likarda. Likarda is working to create a revolutionary cure for diabetes in dogs and cats. And with your support we now partner with 35 animal welfare organizations across the country through our Animal Transfer Program. Your gifts in 2014 saved 2,193 animals through the Animal Transfer Program – you gave a second chance to these animals desperate for help. Wayside Waifs is a strong and growing organization because of your investment and commitment to helping animals in need. With your continued support, I know the Wayside team will always be here to provide life-saving care, love, and comfort to those animals that need it the most. With Gratitude, Geoff Hall President, Wayside Waifs, Inc. Meet two special Waif alumni from 2014: Callie & Mr. Noodles Callie and her family had their eyes on Mr. Noodles during his move from an overcrowded shelter in Joplin, MO to Wayside Waifs. Callie had the opportunity to meet the friendly and playful Mr. Noodles during Wayside’s MegaMatch Adoption Event in October. Since going home, he has adjusted well with his forever family and is a great playmate to three-year-old Callie. The family describes their visit to Wayside as “perfect.” Margaret & Roo Margaret, a lifelong animal lover, wanted to make a difference and decided to become a Wayside Waifs’ volunteer. During her volunteer orientation class she spotted Roo, a striking black and white cat that pulled at her heartstrings. After class, Margaret headed back to Cat Adoptions to officially adopt Roo. She had no intention of adopting that day – but she felt adopting Roo was a miracle brought into her life. Margaret is now an active Cat Volunteer and loves introducing cats to their potential adopters. She says, “I see miracles every day!” Tail Wags & Kitten Purrs to You – Our Donors $100,000+ Barbara Burner Marjory J.
