A: With the Rio Olympics this year, competition wear has become simple, beautifully tailored and FEI legal. No big logos and not too much glitter, but plenty of style. Technical fabrics that look like traditional styles are becoming increasingly popular, too. Q: And what are the must-have accessories? A: Modern dressage boots finish a look. They give riders the correct proportions to fully show off their horses’ movements. Ill-fitting boots make for a messier picture. The slimmed-down ankles and high bows of the König Pamero and Cavallo Insignis perfectly complement a rider’s calf of any shape. Q: What’s currently popular with riders shopping for competition clothing? A: Show jackets are a perfect example of the amazing technical fabrics on offer. Stretch, wick-away linings and water resistance make competing in the British climate far more comfortable and stylish. Adding other textures, such as Alcantara, satin and embroidery, offers a subtle alternative for riders who want something different. The new Cavallo Estoril brings these trends together for 2016. Bling has ‘grown up’ into pearls, beading and appliqué. The Cavallo Gloriette was a 2015 favourite. Tone on tone or contrast colours are fun for juniors and young horse classes. « 33 33-35_CompClothing.v3.indd 33 21/03/2016 15:24
