Focus on activity: fun time- toys and games
Target audience: Ensino Fundamental 1

Aim: to practice toys and games vocabulary using “What’s your favorite toy/game?”/ “Do you
have____?”
Duration: 15-25 min
Organization: group work
Material: flashcards/cards; plastic bottle; 1 basket; 1 ball
Preparation:
• Have the flashcards/pictures ready (at least two of each)
Procedures:
• Ask students to make a circle and sit down. Use a bottle to ask each student questions.
• Spin the bottle and ask the student it points to “What’s your favorite toy?” or shows a toy/game
flashcard/ picture and asks the student to name it.
• Play it several rounds and let students spin the bottle too.
• Keep students in the circle and secretly pass flashcards/pictures behind their backs.
• Say, “Stop”, and ask “Who has the (ball)?” The students should point to who they think has the (ball).
The first student to guess correctly scores.
• Play Go Fish with the flashcards/pictures: have each student choose two flashcards/pictures each.
• Ask them to hold the flashcards/pictures face up not to show anyone.
• Choose a student and ask “Do you have a ball?” If the answer is yes, he has to give you the
flashcard/picture.
• Have each student ask another classmate questions. A student with no card is out. Play a couple of
rounds.
Suggested vocabulary: skateboard, jump rope, bike, scooter, board game, kite, doll, ball, teddy
bear, video game, seesaw, slide, swing, monkey bars, playground.
Wrap up:
• Ask students to line up and show the first student a flashcard/picture and if the student names it
correctly then he/she gets a shot at the basket. Repeat the procedure with the other students.
