Term 2, Week 4
Dear parents, caregivers and friends,
MOTHER’S DAY LITURGY
Thank you to all who were able to join us for the Mother’s Day Liturgy. We are very
fortunate to be able to witness our faith with beautiful, well planned, moving
liturgies. On all of these occasions I have been buoyed by the reverence of the
children who actively sing, pray and worship and hope that this is felt by all in our
community.
An extra special thank you to all of our volunteers who worked behind the scenes in support of the gift stall
and morning tea. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Please be reminded that the morning tea events are provided for adults only and for safety reasons, school
age students should not be in this area or supplied with morning tea items.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
I was delighted to join with a large and enthusiastic crowd to watch the tabloid events for
Kinder and Year 1 recently in addition to the Primary Athletics Carnival held at Branxton
last Friday. We were blessed with the weather on both occasions. The highlight for me
was the true sporting spirit and keen involvement of participants and spectators. It is
great to witness children doing their best and cheering on and encouraging their mates.
ENROLMENTS FOR 2017
Enrolments for Kindergarten 2017 have now opened. If you have a child who will be seeking enrolment at
St Patrick’s please make contact with the school office to collect an enrolment package.
Interviews will be held in June with enrolments confirmed early Term 3.
WINTER UNIFORM
Thank you for your efforts to ensure a smooth transition to winter uniform. Your support is greatly
appreciated to maintain our very high uniform standard. Pride in uniform reflects positively on the
students themselves and is a visible example of the value we place in our school.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS- VIVID EVERYDAY!
I hope you have had a chance to see the ‘Vivid Everyday’ campaign celebrating Catholic education in the
Hunter and Manning regions. The advertisements on TV, radio and in print media are a means for sharing
what Catholic schools stand for with the local community. This is a very exciting time for Catholic schools
as the system is also moving through a phase of significant development and expansion.
I was honoured to join with the Webber family (mum Caz, gorgeous daughters Amelia, Jemimah, Lily and
beautiful baby Ruby) to feature in the campaign. Look out for us on TV!
GIVE US A SIGN CAMPAIGN
Please note this week’s message in support of the Give Us A Sign Campaign
promoting peace and unity.
ASPIRE presents “There’s something strange about Marvin McRae”
Do you have your tickets?
ASPIRE is an audition-based drama, dance, music and creative and performing arts program, launched in
2011 providing benchmark quality training for students from Years 5-11.
Led by an Artistic Director and five Ensemble Directors, Aspire invites talented students from across the
diocese to audition to develop and enhance their skills through performance opportunities in vocal,
instrumentation, drama, dance and strings.
PERFORMANCES will be held on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th & Saturday 6th August at Civic Theatre Newcastle.
Bookings can be made through Ticketek on 49291977.
VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to the generous volunteers who assist in our school in many and varied ways. Over the last few
weeks I have particularly noticed your support of the children in and out of the classroom for reading,
maths and art both individually and in groups; assistance on canteen; and willingness to cook, serve and
clean for social and community events.
Please know that we value all that you do!
FEES
Please attend to your account as soon as possible. These are 30 day accounts and the school relies on
prompt payment of fees to meet educational expenditure commitments.
If you established a payment plan some time ago with Mr Treloar, I would appreciate you making contact
with me to discuss and review the current status of your account.
RECONCILIATION LITURGY
Indigenous Students in years 2-6 will travel to the Sacred Heart Cathedral on
Thursday 26th May 2016 at 11am to take part in in this service to pray for
reconciliation and celebrate indigenous culture.
Please ensure all permission notes are returned promptly to secure transport.
There is no cost for this event.
With Best Wishes,
Jacqui Wilkinson

OPAL CARD
PROJECT COMPASSION
In total we raised $581.85 for Project Compassion.
That money will go towards making a life changing
difference to people in need all over the world
through the work of Caritas. Well done St Patrick’s!
Participating in social justice activities such as Project
Compassion assists our students in gaining an
understanding of the poverty that exists in the wider
world. It also calls them to action to make a
difference.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATION
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
What a beautiful day we had for our Annual Athletics
Carnival. The children were well behaved and participated
with enthusiasm and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to
see so many parents supporting their children at this event.
I would like to thank all the teachers, recorders,
timekeepers and canteen volunteers who worked tirelessly
throughout the day.
The winning House and age champions will be published in
the next newsletter.

P&F NEWS
Sports Carnival Thank You
We all enjoyed our School Sports Carnival and the perfect weather at Miller Park last Friday. A fun day was
had by all, especially the children.
To all our volunteers and helpers on the day THANK YOU so much. We have been overwhelmed with your
support this year with our P&F events. Our ‘Happy to Assist forms’ have now been entered into our data
base and this system is running very well. We’re so grateful for your assistance.
Also thanks to our Dad’s Scott & Mark who cooked up Hoff’s sausages for our sausage sizzle lunch and also
a big thank you to Kelly from Forage Coffee who kept brewing up great coffee all day and for Kelly’s
generous donation to our School.

YMCA Before and After School Care.
We are located on Gregory Road in St Patrick’s Primary School, Lochinvar.
Here at the YMCA we offer before and after school care for school age children.
We are a not for profit community organization. We work closely with our local community
in helping children and provide a great service for all.
On a regular day, children in before school care are involved in quiet activities that help
prepare them for the school day ahead. Breakfast is provided as part of the daily program
to ensure all children attend school with a healthy start to the day.
During the afternoon, children are offered a nutritious afternoon tea, the opportunity to
complete any homework and join in on a range of age appropriate activities until parents
collect them.
We work closely with children to develop a program that is based on their interests and skill
level.
If you would like more information about our service and would like to find out how to
enrol your child, please contact Mel on 0417602658.
