A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS Second Sunday of Easter or Sunday of Divine Mercy April 3, 2016 Before his election as Pope, our Holy Father as Archbishop of Buenos Aires wrote “Only someone who has encountered mercy, who has been caressed by the tenderness of mercy, is happy and comfortable with the Lord.” Have I offered this gift to someone else? “Many signs and wonders were done among the people at the hands of the apostles. They were all together in Solomon’s portico. None of the others dared to join them, but the people esteemed them. Yet more than ever, believers in the Lord, great numbers of men and women, were added to them... Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” The second Sunday of Easter, designated Divine Mercy Sunday by St. John Paul II, and a key moment in the Jubilee Year of Mercy finds us, not at Solomon’s portico but in our homes and home parishes. The signs and wonders of the early church are manifest again, as others, through our efforts and invitation, return to the life of the church. If each person would pause, pray, and then invite someone to experience the mercy of God and return to the life of the church, how different would our parish life be. Novena Monday April 18 at 7: 00 PM This can be used as a prayer experience for students in the Sacramental Classes REMINDER Mandatory Communion Parent Meeting For First Eucharist Monday, April 4, 2016 7:00 pm in the Jacques Center Please bring your calendar to schedule upcoming events and Family Mass, if you have not done so yet. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION For the safety of everyone, please use good judgement and DO NOT BLOCK the driveway between Citizens Band and the Church. It is extremely important to leave enough space for an ambulance or fire truck to be able to get though the driveway. YOU MAY BE THE PERSON IN NEED! The Church was filled at all masses, and overflowed at a few! It was a gathering of believers who sought to really recognize their Lord and Savior. The celebrations of this great feast are in and of themselves a revelation about each parish member. Are we doing our best for Christ? Are we being the kind of witness that the Lord would want? We hope so. Thus, the call is to assure that weekly mass, regular witness and true involvement in the parish community will instill the presence of the Lord in all we say and do.
