contribute. This will be a low cost event, so ya'll plan on coming for a night of
good eats and fun. There will be a very short business meeting at 6 p.m.

Free Admission for Senior Citizens
Run From the Water – Hide From the Wind
That is the theme you should remember while preparing
for hurricanes and other weather related situations. Following is information via Harris County’s Office of
Emergency Management and Texas.
• Dial 2-1-1 to register if you are infirm or need
special assistance
• During hurricane season, always keep your
vehicle’s fuel tank at least half full
• Storm surge will not affect our area; we will most
likely NOT be asked to evacuate
• A tropical storm may create localized flooding
• Remember that the higher wind speeds allow
for less rain, and vice versa
• Do NOT store excessive amounts of fuel
• If you leave, turn off your main power circuit
breaker and close your natural gas valve before
the meter
Klein ISD offers free admission to Klein ISD athletic and theatrical
events for residents who are 65 years of age or older through the
Senior Gold Card program. Applications for a Gold Card may be
made on the district website, www.kleinisd.net, by clicking on the
“Senior Citizen Benefits” link in the green “Community” box on the
homepage, or you can complete a form at the Klein ISD Central
Office at 7200 Spring Cypress Road. Senior Gold Card holders may
pick up their football tickets in advance at the Klein Athletic Administrative building or Klein Memorial Stadium on the day of a game.
To obtain general admission theater tickets, call the theater department of the high school where the production is being staged.
Make sure you bookmark the Harris County Office of Emergency Management’s webpage www.hcoem.org. Learn
how to use the rainfall and tributary water gauging pages.
Other information
• Record our direct emergency contact number,
281-444-(FIRE)3473 on the inside of a cabinet
door. Use this number ONLY if 9-1-1 fails.
• When winds reach over 45 mph, emergency services will not respond
• Never operate a generator in a garage or other
enclosed area (not even a patio)
• Verify your smoke detectors are working
• Clean your gutters
• Shelter any lawn furniture or other items that
the wind can launch
• Video tape your entire home and contents; store
in a safe place
• Identify a safe place in your home (under the
stairwell?), away from windows and doors

Sharks 2011 Swim
Season Wrap Up!
Congratulations to our
4 Shark Senior
Swimmers:
Arista Clark, Kayla
Gunn, Justin Nusser
and Woody Sherman.
The Cypresswood Sharks began the
season on May 21st with a home meet
and ended at Divisionals on June 25th
at Spring High School. The Sharks finished the season with a 4 and 1 record.
Week after week, the Sharks gave it
their all and had fun doing so. Many
Sharks improved their times and swam
better each week.
The season went by quickly with several swimmers breaking pool records,
new swimmers accomplishing their
goals of swimming faster, improvement of strokes, great team nights full
of good food and good music, receiving ribbons/awards each week, fun at
practices and of course the fun and
thrill of swimming at meets were all
highlights of the season.
Several Sharks not only swam at dual
meets but also participated in Summer
Thunder, Pentathlon, and Invitationals:
All-Stars and Ponderosa! Quite an accomplishment for those swimmers!
Thanks to all of our coaches who
worked with the swimmers and supported them: Coach Jim Sharp, Coach
Beth McIntosh, Coach Mike Carroll
and Coach Brandon Becker. Thanks
for sharing your time, talent and energy!
Special thank you to all of our parent
volunteers who volunteered their time
and talents to make our meets a success week after week. It takes everyone working together to make the
swim season a success. We also saw
several new faces on the team this year.
Yes, it was hot at times but to see a
swimmer improve his or time is priceless. If you were unable to join us this
summer, consider signing up next year!
New families are always welcome! See
everyone at the pool next year for an
even bigger and better year!

Cypresswood Resident
in Baseball
Championship
Tournament
Congratulations to Cypresswood
resident, Jack Rogers, for an outstanding baseball result! Jack’s select baseball team, the 12U Banditos
Black (Texas Prospects Baseball
Academy), recently won the 2011
Super Series Baseball of America
National Championship. The
Banditos went through the tournament without ever losing a game, and
outscored their opponents by scoring 65 runs and allowing only 14.
Jack’s team will be advancing to the
National Youth Baseball Championships tournament in Memphis, Tennessee on August 25-28, 2011. The
best 12 year old baseball players in
the nation will be competing at this
event, with games televised on the
MLB Network. The winners of eight
major youth organizations’ national
titles, including AABC, AAU, Babe
Ruth Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball,
NABF, Pony Baseball, Super Series
Baseball and USSSA, will be competing for the unified national champion title. Until recently, these established youth baseball organizations have had their individual champions, but there has never been a
Championship Tournament –involving teams from all major organizations (more than 100,000 teams nationwide)—to determine a true National Youth
Champion.
Good luck to
Jack and the
12U Banditos
Black as they
represent Super
Series and the
Houston area at
the NYBC!
