In order to be able to utilize the service, you need a pager, cell phone or PDA with an email address. Normal email addresses can also be used. Alerts are sent out when a significant terrorist related event occurs. For instance, the 9-11 attack, the Bali Bombing, the Moscow theater hostage situation and the anthrax attacks in the US all resulted in alerts. Messages are also sent out for developments which may result in an immediate increased threat, such as the arrest of key al-Qaeda members, new significant threats by terrorist groups or events such as the release of an Osama bin Laden audio tape which may serve as an indicator of a possible upcoming attack. This is not an automated news service. A watch group of intelligence and counterterrorism professionals based around the world monitors various sources of information, both primary and secondary source, for the latest developments. This information is then directly entered into the dissemination system when warranted and ultimately appears on your cell phone or pager within minutes. • Messages are limited to around 200 characters. • Cell phones/pagers/PDAs must have an email address for the service to work. • Messages only sent for significant developments. • Alerts are sent out by analysts. 21 of 91 INDIVIDUAL SPECIALIZED TARGETING INTEL FEEDS AVIATION TARGETING MONITOR (ATM) RAIL TARGETING MONITOR (RTM) BUS TARGETING MONITOR (BTM) 1-user for 1-year - US$395 2-5 users for 1-year - US$795 6-10 users for 1-year - US$1,295 1-user for 1-year - US$395 2-5 users for 1-year - US$795 6-10 users for 1-year - US$1,295 1-user for 1-year - US$395 2-5 users for 1-year - US$795 6-10 users for 1-year - US$1,295 The new Aviation Targeting Monitor (ATM) is a specialized current intelligence feed that delivers to you all the latest developments involving terrorist and rebel activity against the aviation sector from around the world to include airports, aircraft, aviation companies and more. It provides a chronological breakout of all terrorist and rebel type activity for the years covered. The material for the series is drawn from IntelCenter's weekly World s Terrorist Groups - Intel Update (WTG-IU) reports. Reporting is heavily focused on incident type activity, such as bombings, shootings, kidnappings, etc., with some coverage of arrests, threats and other developments. The data contained in each item represents an analyst’s best assessment of the most accurate information based upon available source reporting at that point in time and their knowledge of the area and groups involved. These items are not simply abstracts. All source information for each item is listed below in brackets. When researching patterns of activity or any type of quantitative or frequency type analysis, the TIR is an excellent starting point but needs to be augmented with additional resources. While every attempt is made to be as comprehensive as possible, variations in source coverage, source availability, volume of activity and resource levels all impact the depth of coverage over time. Consequently, while it may appear that attacks have increased during one period this may simply be the result of additional press reporting. Likewise, an apparent decrease in attacks may be the result of a drop-off in coverage or temporary loss of access to a source. The two most heavily weighted in the selection process are English language transcripts produced by al-Qaeda and exact transcripts of the English subtitling in alQaeda’s videos. Wherever possible these two types are used. If they are not available, then the best quality translation available of the spoken Arabic was used. At the top of each statement the source material type is indicated in the version section. Due to the variety of source material, there are noticeable variations in spellings, names and other areas from one statement to another. This was unavoidable as we felt it was critical to preserve the exact copy of alQaeda’s actual English writings, to include grammatical and spelling errors. This allows analysts and others to use these transcripts in a variety of analytical efforts that would not be possible had everything been standardized.
