The third window on
the east side of our church
depicts the Third Glorious
Mystery of the Holy Rosary The Descent of the Holy Spirit.
The Descent of the
Holy Spirit occurred 50 days
after Easter Sunday. The biblical narrative of Pentecost is
given in the second chapter
of the Book of Acts. Present
were about one hundred and
twenty followers of Christ,
including the Eleven Apostles
and Matthias who was Judas’
replacement, Mary mother of
Jesus, and other women.
Their reception of the
Holy Spirit is recounted in
Acts 2:1-6:
“When the time for
Pentecost was fulfilled, they
were all in one place together. And suddenly there came
from the sky a noise like a
strong driving wind, and it
filled the entire house in
which they were. Then there
appeared to them tongues as
of fire, which parted and
came to rest on each one of
them. And they were all filled
with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different
tongues, as the Spirit enabled
them to proclaim. Now there
were devout Jews from every
nation under heaven staying
in Jerusalem. At this sound,
they gathered in a large
crowd, but they were confused because each one heard
them speaking in his own language.”
While those on whom the Spirit had descended
were speaking in many languages, the Apostle Peter stood
up with the Eleven and proclaimed to the crowd that this
event was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the Prophet
Joel. In Acts 2:17, it reads: “‘It will come to pass in the last
days,’ God says, ‘that I will pour out a portion of my spirit
upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall
dream dreams.”
Peter also mentions (Acts 2:15) that it was the nine
o’clock in the morning. Acts 2:41 then reports: “Those who
accepted his message were baptized, and about three
thousand persons were added that day.”
Peter stated that this event was the beginning of a
continual outpouring that would be available to all believers from that point on, Jews and Gentiles alike.
Tradition (not the Bible) tells us that the Descent of
the Holy Spirit took place in the Upper Room.
The top part of this stained glass window shows a
yellow circle with white dove (the symbol of the Holy Spirit) on blue background. Below you can see the tongues as
of fire descending on the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Eleven Apostles.
Below the scene you can see seven gold
lampstands. The New Testament Book of Revelation refers
to seven golden lampstands, representing the seven
churches of Asia to which the revelation was sent: Ephesus,
Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea, with “one like a Son of Man” in their midst. (Rev
1,9-20). The lampstands in the stained glass window symbolizes the spreading of the Good News and the Light of
the Holy Spirit.
Bellow we have the title - “COMING OF THE HOLY
GHOST”. And also on the very bottom there is the name
WIKTOR I BRONISŁAWA BUDZISZEWSKI, who sponsored
this stained glass window.

albo właściwie ciągle młode, nigdy nie stare. Pokora
człowieka czyni młodym, świeżym, nie zgorzkniałym i
zgrzybiałym.

Uniżenie to doskonałość, którą Jezus nieustannie
stawiał przed oczami uczniów, jak to dziecko z dzisiejszej
Ewangelii. Pokora nie jest poniżaniem siebie, które jest
powodowane pogardą do siebie lub niezadowoleniem z
tego, że się nie jest takim, jakim by się chciało być. To
byłaby pycha. Pokora to takie uniżanie siebie, które
ukazuje prawdę o nas. To zgoda na swoją prawdziwą
małość. Rodrycjusz napisał, że tak jak woda w górach
spływa do dolin i nie zatrzymuje się na szczytach, podobnie
łaska od Boga spływa do tych, co są najniżej, i nie
zatrzymuje się na tych, którzy nad innymi się wynoszą.
Ludzie pokorni są podobni do aniołów, bo w
niczym nie szukają siebie. Tak jakby ich nie było i jakby nie
mieli własnych pragnień, lecz ciągle pytają, czego pragnie
Bóg i w jaki sposób uszczęśliwić Boga. Są jak lustra, które
nie mają własnego obrazu, lecz odbijają w sobie tego, który
przed nimi stanie. Większość Ojców Kościoła wyrażała
przekonanie, że Bóg stworzył aniołów przed całym
stworzeniem materialnym. Święta Hildegarda z Bingen
widziała
aniołów
jako
pierwociny
stworzenia.
Przedstawiała ich jako uformowane światłem, lustrzane
postacie, które Boskie światło odbijają dla ludzi, a ludzi
przedstawiają Bogu jakby w odbiciu lustra. Przybliżają
człowieka Bogu i Boga przybliżają człowiekowi, sami
pozostając prawie niewidoczni. Dlatego w Biblii często, gdy
jakiś bohater rozmawia z aniołem, raz jest mowa, że mówi
z Bogiem, a raz, że rozmawia z aniołem, jakby anioł tylko
przez chwilę był widoczny, a całym sobą przyzbliżał Boga
człowiekowi. I taki jest również człowiek pokorny. Jest tak
uniżony, że nie widać jego samego, lecz wszyscy, którzy na
niego patrzą, dostrzegają tylko Boga, a gdy on się modli, to
Bóg w nim widzi osoby, za które on błaga! Aniołowie nie
modlą się za samych siebie i ci, którzy są jak aniołowie, nie
modlą się za samych siebie. To nie znaczy, że modlitwa za
siebie jest zła, ale wskazuje, że ktoś nie jest jeszcze tak
uniżony, lecz jest w nim jakaś wyniosłość, która potrzebuje
oczyszczenia. Bóg nie wybrał na górę objawienia Mount
Everestu, tylko niski pagórek Synaju. Najbardziej
niebezpieczne dla uniżenia są te cnoty, które sobie
przypisujemy. W „Ścieżce sprawiedliwego” rabina Luzzatto
czytamy, że cnoty mogą nas oszukiwać, gdyż przez nie
widzimy się wyżej postawionymi od innych, a przecież
żadna z nich nie jest nasza własnością, lecz darem Boga.
Łaciński tekst, podając słowa Jezusa o tym, by być
ostatnim, używa słowa novissimus, które owszem, znaczy
ostatni, ale też najmłodszy, świeży, najnowszy. Bo w byciu
ostatnim jest pewien sekret. Ten, kto stara się być ostatnim
i ustawia się w cieniu innych, przestaje być starym
człowiekiem, człowiekiem grzechu, staje się kimś nowym,
świeżym, kimś wiecznie młodym! To dziecko, postawione
przez Jezusa w centrum uwagi uczniów, było najmłodsze,
40 Hours’ Devotion
SS. Peter and Paul Parish will celebrate 40 Hours'
Devotion from October 2 to October 4, 2015. This is a time
of prayer, reflection, and adoration of Jesus Christ in the
Blessed Sacrament.
On Saturday, October 3, Adoration will take place
in Church from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 5:30
p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A sign-up sheet is located in the Sacristy.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation for
Adults. It is the Catholic Church’s way of initiating new
members. RCIA is much more than a program. It is a learning and loving process in which conversion of the heart
brings one to Jesus Christ. It is an answer to the Gospel
invitation in Mathew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all you who
labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my
yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
RCIA is an opportunity...
 For those who have not been baptized.
 For those who have been baptized, but have little affiliation with, and/or training in the Catholic religion.
 For those who want to learn and ask questions about
the Catholic faith.
Through weekly gatherings, those attending gain a
deeper appreciation and understanding of the Catholic beliefs and practices. All are welcome, and there is no obligation to make any commitment to become Catholic.
Sometimes, those of us who have been Catholic
our whole lives forget to offer this information to others
who may be interested in becoming Catholic. We just assume that if they are interested, they will find their own
way. However, extending an invitation to relatives, friends,
and neighbors, in a gentle way, might be just the opportunity that they are waiting for. They may be ready, but are
not sure how to make an inquiry. However, if they are not
ready today, you may have planted a seed that will grow
and bloom into a decision sometime in the future.

 Those who have never been baptized as Christians.
 Those who have been baptized in another Christian
faith tradition and are now interested in the Catholic
faith.
 Those who were baptized in the Catholic faith, but did
not receive First Communion and/or Confirmation.

Sacramental Preparation Policy
Before any Sacramental Preparation (Baptism, Reconciliation,
Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Marriage) can begin, we
require that you be an active registered member for at least six
months. This means attending a weekend liturgy with our parish
community, using your weekly offering envelopes, and taking
part in parish activities. Please contact the Parish Office for further information.
Anointing of the Sick Request
If a family member is confined at home or a medical facility and
wishes to receive the Sacraments of Holy Communion, Confession or Anointing of the Sick please call the Parish Office.
