We would like to thank
all the parishioners of
Saint Andrew for your
generous contribution the relief effort after
Hurricane Matthew in the US and the Caribbean. ◊ Deseamos darles la gracias a los
parroquianos de Saint Andrew por su generosa
contribución para los
esfuerzos de socorro después del Huracán Matthew
en los EU y el Caribe.
A Warm Welcome and Sincere Thanks
Dear Parishioners of Saint Andrew:
It is my pleasure to welcome Deacon Steve Rynkiewicz and his wife Lupe to Saint Andrew Parish. Deacon Steve was ordained to the permanent diaconate in 2008 for the Archdiocese of Chicago. To enhance
his service to the Church and the predominately Hispanic community at his parish of Blessed Trinity in
Waukegan, Illinois, Deacon Steve learned Spanish and is able to officiate at the sacraments and preach in
Spanish, as well as his native English. Following retirement from work, Deacon Steve and his wife Lupe
decided to move to Coral Springs to be close to their family. You will soon see Deacon Steve assisting at
Mass and in other capacities. Please join me in extending to Deacon Steve and Lupe Rynkiewicz a warm
welcome to Saint Andrew Parish.
Last week at all Masses, a special second collection was taken up to assist those effected by Hurricane
Matthew, both in the Caribbean and in the United States. That second collection raised $11,142 from our
parish. It is clear that all of us have been touched by the scenes and reports of the devastation caused by
Hurricane Matthew, especially in Haiti, which is already struggling with so many difficulties. I believe
that we also responded out of a sense of gratitude to the Lord by whose Divine Providence we were
spared the wrath of what was a very powerful and destructive hurricane. The monies donated to this special collection will be used to bring material aid and assistance to those harmed by Hurricane Matthew.
On behalf of those who will benefit from your generosity, I express my sincere thanks and prayerful
gratitude.
Last Saturday the 13th Annual Bill McAlpine Golf Classic and Banquet was held at Colony West Country
Club. I wish to thank the Men’s Club and all others who worked so diligently to organize this important
annual event. I also thank all those who were sponsors – both individuals and businesses – as well as all
who purchased raffle tickets, made donations or otherwise contributed their time, talent or treasure to
make this event such as success. All proceeds will be used directly for the benefit of our parish and parish school. I also take this opportunity to invite all the men of the parish to participate in a Morning of
Reflection which will be held on Saturday, October 29th in the parish social hall from 9:00 am until 12:00
pm. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Ian Roberson who speak on the Jubilee Year of Mercy. This event is
sponsored by the Men’s Club but you don’t have to be a member of the Men’s Club to attend.
Finally, I want to thank all of you who have made a special financial donation to assist with the replacement of one of the air conditioning units in the church. As an update, I would like you to know that several bids have been accepted and are being evaluated by the Properties and Facilities Committee, a subcommittee of the Finance Council. It is my hope to make a selection soon so that installation can get underway. If you would like to make a special donation for the replacement of the air conditioner, please
indicate such on your donation envelope or with your online account with FaithDirect.net.
As we welcome Deacon Steve and Lupe Rynkiewicz to Saint Andrew Parish, I am again reminded that
our parishioners exercise Catholic stewardship by their prayer, sharing and generous giving. I thank you
for your goodness and I thank God for you daily.
May the Lord continue to bless you and your family with His love!
Monsignor Michael A. Souckar
evento anual tan importante.

Saint Andrew Council of Catholic Women Salutes Our Veterans 2016!
The Saint Andrew Council of Catholic Women is celebrating our parish veterans this year in
conjunction with our military collection drive. We would like to honor all veterans, living and
deceased, by creating a poster of photos to share with our parish family.
We invite any parish veteran or family of a veteran to bring a copy of their military photo, with their name, branch of service and years served to the parish
office in an envelope marked “Veterans Salute.” The collection will take place
during the months of Sept and Oct, and the poster will be unveiled during Veteran’s Day Weekend masses on Nov 12-13th.
We thank all of you for your service and look forward to honoring you and your family members this Veteran’s Day!
