GREETINGS,
Hey everyone!!! Ready for some football? Preseason will be starting this
month. I hope everyone's favorite team does well this season. The
Cowboys sure disappointed me last year.
I would like to give a well deserved Thank You to Ed Johnson for
donating the projector and screen. It should be a real plus for our
upcoming events.
We had a really nice 4th of July. A special thanks to Saul and Big Mike
for such a great job BBQing. Thanks to everyone who brought the great
side dishes.
Don't forget to attend the District Meeting at Garden Grove on Sunday
August 4th. We will be having our Country Breakfast! Also, on August
10th Garden Grove will be well represented at the La Habra Car Show.
Hope to see you there!!!
Mark your calendar for the Legion Moose Hop! The bus will leave LA
Habra at 7:30 am on August 17th. Additional information to come.
Just a reminder, if you plan on attending the Cal/Nevada Convention in
Reno, you should get your reservations at the Atlantis ASAP!!! Reno is
a fun and informative convention to attend.
Be proud to show your bartenders your Moose card every time you
enter the lodge. We love when you bring guest to the lodge, but please
remember to sign them in, and when you leave, your guest must also
leave. Both of these issues are very important and are what allows us to
keep our not for profit status. We do not want to jeopardize that.

Hi Everyone,
Is it hot enough for you yet? Well it’s going to get a little hotter at the lodge.
Check your calendars for some exciting events coming up. Dinner every Friday
night, breakfast every Sunday, District meeting at our lodge this month,
weeknight dinners, Bingo, WOTM Appreciation dinner by LOOM, and The
Newlywed Game! Hope to see you at some if not all of these events.
Remember, it is all volunteers that put together these great meals and events.
Show your appreciation for them by attending and showing your support.
Fourth of July was a blast thank you for coming out and bringing food. A
special thank you to the BBQ volunteers.

Just a reminder, Women of the Moose is an organization of VOLUNTEERS.
We are coworkers in the Women of the Moose; therefore we are
VOLUNTEERS, all of us together. Please, when you are called upon to help,
do your best to say “Yes!”
AND ~ a special thanks to the many, MANY coworkers who devote so much
time, energy and effort into making Chapter 1117 the great organization that
it is. Without your devotion, we could not go on.
Congratulations Shim, for receiving National Recognition as the BEST
webmaster in our category. Thanks to you for your many tireless efforts on
our website, with our calendar/bulletin and the MANY hours of work with
our Lodge photography. We couldn’t do it without you. Great Job!!
Just around the corner fall “looms” << yes, pun intended! We would like to
schedule some guest speakers for coming meetings. Please see a board
member for suggestions. Let us know what you are interested in so we can
arrange for your topic for your interests...
Don’t forget Traditional Activities we hope to continue. Prepare now for
Chinese Auctions, the Luau, Halloween, Christmas – yup they are all just
around the corner. Remember – without “U” there is no “F_N!”
Flags anyone? The effort to blanket the Veterans Cemetery from boarder to
boarder is still ongoing. Please dig deep and contribute in any way you
can. Veteran’s Day is coming up fast... Enjoy your freedom? Thank a Vet.
Thanks everyone for making our Garden Grove Lodge one of the friendliest
on the planet. We have a great reputation for welcoming our many visitors
as one of our own. Good Job!

Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grove Boys & Girls Club
In support of the Youth Involvement Committee and representing our lodge in community
service the WOTM are hosting an ice-cream social for the children at the Boys & Girls Club
st
on Clinton Street in Garden Grove on Wednesday, August 21 at 1:00pm. We are also
presenting the club with school & hygiene supplies for the homeless youth that they
support. 50/50 raffles were held in July to help fund this event. Monetary or supply
donations are still being accepted. If you wish to help please contact Stephanie Estrada @
714-309-9755 or you can leave your donation with the bartenders at the lodge. Let’s show
our community that we care. Thank you.

Challenge!
SATURDAY AUGUST 31st 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Following the recipe of Iron Chef and Chopped we will be holding our own
Moose cooking challenge. Every month we will have a cook-off with a
different ‘secret’ Ingredient. Everyone is invited to participate. Just
make a dish with the secret ingredient and compete against each other.
Winning dish takes home half the pot!

DISTANCE" Membership Campaign.
