& Technologies North America, and other companies of relevance for the
market have confirmed their participation as exhibitors. The registration list
already covers the full range of food technology. In addition to individual
exhibitors, numerous group stands are expected, at which companies of a
country will present themselves jointly. Planned are pavilions from, among
others, China, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Turkey. The
ProFood Tech concept of offering a central technology platform for the food
and beverage industry in the NAFTA region, and the stable growth of the
world's largest food market, the US, is convincing many national and
international companies to participate in the trade fair, according to the
organizers Koelnmesse, PMMI, and IDFA.
The sales opportunities for international suppliers in the world's most important
food market, the US, are very promising. Growth here is continuing at a stable,
single digit level. Correspondingly high is the need for investment of food and
beverage manufacturers: the import of process technologies for the food
industry from the EU to the USA increased in value between 2011 and 2015
by nearly 45 percent and achieved a volume of 947.6 million US dollars. ""The
United States has seen an increased investment in new production facilities
and expansions of existing plants in order to help meet domestic and global

demand for new food and beverages,” according to the American expert for
process technology in the food segment, John A. Lucey from the University of
Wisconsin. "Recently the US food and beverage processing industry has seen
an increase in innovations that are both speeding up production and
packaging, increasing food safety, and lowering overall production costs”.
Conference with five main themes
As a business platform, ProFood Tech will be accompanied by a first class
supporting program that focuses on knowledge transfer and the exchange of
information. A trade conference tailored especially to the needs of the branch
and oriented to top visitors and decision makers from the NAFTA region and
to exhibitors from around the world who want to inform themselves about
trends and innovations in the North American market. Experts for food and
food technology will present five main themes currently of relevance for the
industry to a trade public: ‘Business and Leadership Development’, ‘Consumer
Trends and Marketing’, ‘Health and Lifestyle’, ‘Regulations and Food Safety’,
as well as ‘Food Processing and Technology’.
Trend: resource efficiency
Resource efficiency is the focus of the main theme of ‘Food Processing and
Technology’. Of key importance here are a reinforcement of competitiveness
with the goal of using less energy and water through optimization of the
production process and a reduction in food loss. The global leading fair for the
supplier segment of the food industry, Anuga FoodTec, has also made
resource efficiency its key theme for the next event in March 2018. Both trade
fairs thus take up a topic currently being discussed intensely in science,
industry, and politics: the G7 nations placed resource efficiency on the agenda
of the meeting of government leaders at the end of May 2016 in Japan.
ProFood Tech: facts and figures
ProFood Tech is the new central supplier trade fair for the food and beverage
processing industry, and takes place for the first time from April 4-6, 2017 in
the Lakeside Center on the McCormick Place fair grounds in Chicago. It is
organized jointly by the internationally active trade fair organizer Koelnmesse,
PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies and
producers of PACK EXPO brand of trade shows and by the dairy industry
association IDFA (International Dairy Foods Association). In relation to the
number of exhibitors as a whole, the organizers expect around 25 percent
