If you have been asked to be a Godparent or Confirmation Sponsor, please know
that you will be required to be a registered parishioner of the Cathedral of Christ
the King for three months before we can issue a “letter in good standing” with your
parish as is normally required by the parish issuing the sacrament. If you have any
questions, or if you are in need of a letter in good standing, please contact the
Cathedral, 404-233-2145
What Is An “Active” Parishioner Status?
Active parishioners rightfully look to their parish for any number of services. Among
these are:
• Certification as godparents/sponsors for Baptisms and Confirmation
• Active parishioner tuition rates in Catholic schools
• Scheduling of the facilities for liturgical services such as Baptisms, Weddings and
Funerals.
• Enrolling children in the Religious Education Programs and Sacramental Programs
for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
These rights and services within the Church bring with them certain obligations, as in
any form of community. The criteria for determining active parishioner status includes:
• Be a registered member of the parish for at least three months.
• Attend Mass at Christ the King on a regular basis.
• Support the parish through the giving of your time, talent and treasure.
Receiving regular mailings from the Cathedral (newsletters, envelopes) means that you
are registered in the parish. If you are not registered, please pick up a registration form at
the back of the church or at the front desk.

The next Sandwich Making for the Night Shelter project will be on Monday,
February 7 at 7 pm in the Christ the King School Cafeteria. This is a great service
project for families and children of all ages. We'll prepare 1,000 sandwiches that

Mustard Seed Mission Trip Needs Your Help
Christ the King's annual adult Mustard Seed mission trip needs your help! We
will be gathering donations of diapers for adults and children, personal hygiene
items, towels and school supplies to take to Hogar Immanual Orphanage and
Christ in the Garbage School in the Dominican Republic. Donations can be left in
the drop-off bins beside the elevator near the reception desk on the second floor
from now through February 2. These simple items that we take for granted every
day are always needed by the people we will serve. Thanks so much for your
generosity! If you have any questions, please call Susan Monroe at 404-237-5868.
Wedding Workshop — February 7
If a wedding at the Cathedral is in your future, plan to attend this workshop,
held the first Monday of each month (February 7) at 7 pm in the Cathedral.
Brides-to-be, their mothers, their fiancés and any interested friends are invited to
come. Members of the Wedding Guild will explain wedding procedures and
answer questions concerning the planning of the ceremony.
Stewardship of Treasure
How shall I repay the Lord for his goodness to me?” Psalm 116
Blessed are they who are what they are and do what they do for the sake of the
kingdom! The Gospel today assures good stewards that their suffering and their
service on behalf of the kingdom will be rewarded.
Christ the King’s Stewardship of Treasure Drive for 2011

Georgia Natural Gas Honors CKS at Atlanta Falcons Game
On December 27th, Christ the King School
was presented with a check on the field at
the Atlanta Falcons football game when
Georgia Natural Gas recognized the top five
schools from their True Blue School’s
program. As the fourth largest recipient of
funds through this program, CKS was
included in the honorees. With 110
participating parents and parishioners, CKS
has received a total of $10,450 since the
program’s inception in 2009.
How Can You Help?
If you are a GNG customer, all you need to
do is logon to the GNG True Blue Schools
website – www.trueblueschools.com – select
Christ the King School and provide your
account number. For as long as you are a
GNG customer, the school will receive $5
per month, at absolutely no cost to you. It’s
as easy as that to donate $60 per year to
CKS!
If you are not currently a GNG customer and want to participate in this program,
you will need to log onto the GNG True Blue Schools website –
www.trueblueschools.com - and select the option that says “I Want to Become a
GNG Customer.” Once you have done that, select Christ the King School as your
school of choice and follow the remaining instructions on how to become a GNG
customer. Christ the King School will then receive a $40 one-time donation plus
$5 per month for as long as you are a customer.
As Georgians, most of us must pay for natural gas anyway – so why not purchase
yours from a company that will support Christ the King School? Please take the
time to register today!

Stephen Ministry Training
Ministering to Those Experiencing Grief
Our Stephen Ministers are exploring one of the more common
situations in which they may minister - caring for those
experiencing grief. They learn about the shock, recoil, and
rebuilding stages of grief and what forms of care giving are
right at each stage. They will also look at the many types of
losses - in addition to the death of a loved one - that can cause grief and how they
can provide care in those instances also. Please pray for our Stephen Ministers.

CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE KING
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
From Our Bishops
“Make no mistake, abortion-ondemand is not a right granted by the
Constitution. No serious scholar,
including one disposed to agree with
the Court's result, has argued that
the framers of the Constitution
intended to create such a right.
Shortly after the Roe v. Wade
decision, Professor John Hart Ely,
now Dean of Stanford Law School,
wrote that the opinion "is not
constitutional law and gives almost
no sense of an obligation to try to
be." Nowhere do the plain words of
the Constitution even hint at a
"right" so sweeping as to permit
abortion up to the time the child is
ready to be born. Yet that is what the
Court ruled. As an act of "raw
judicial power" (to use Justice
White's biting phrase), the decision
by the seven-man majority in Roe v.
Wade has so far been made to stick.
But the Court's decision has by no
means settled the debate. Instead,
Roe v. Wade has become a
continuing prod to the conscience of
the nation.” – President Ronald
Reagan, in his book Abortion and the
Conscience of the Nation (1983).

LOS VERDADEROS VALORES: LAS
BIENAVENTURANZAS
Eran gente justa y humilde. A

¡CUENTA CONMIGO COLOMBIA!
kg), sal (1 lb), fideos (1 lb), granos (frijol, lentejas, etc.)
CONMIGO!
