We hope you have been able to enjoy the beautiful campgrounds that Nebraska and the surrounding states have to offer. If you have not made your reservation for Campvention please sure to do so soon. You are always welcome but is so much easier if you send in your reservation prior to arrival. We know it will be hot but they have wonderful facilities and the camping area is very close to the air conditioned buildings where all of the activities will be held. We have resigned as the Nebraska State Directors after Campvention. With job commitments and family we decided it was time to step back from the job. We have truly enjoyed serving as the State Directors and have some wonderful memories. We want to thank each and every one of you for your kindness, consideration and support. We know you will be great supporters of the next State Directors. If you wish to be considered or know someone who would be good in this position please let us or Gerry Pfirsch know. This will not change our commitment to the organizaiton. We still plan to be at every campout that we can to enjoy the camaraderie with all of you. Sandy and Ken Kendall, Nebraska State Directors Page 2 Calendar of Events Chapter Activities JULY 8-10 8-10 8-10 15-17 15-17 15-17 15-17 25-29 25-29 29-30 30-Aug. 2 Heartland Runabouts, Hebron City Park Courageous Ramblers, Memphis Triple F, Lewis & Clark Rollin’ Turtles, Big Lake State Park, Craig, Missouri Western Nebraska Wheelers, Tanking or Johnson Lake Fun Finders, Orleans City Park Republican Valley Sodbuster, Crystal Lake Heartland Runabouts, Campvention, Shawnee, OK Explorers, Campvention, Shawnee, OK Triple F, Christmas in July at Pine Grove Heartland Runabouts, Regional, Hutchinson, KS District/State/Regional/International Activities July 24-29 International Campvention, Shawnee, OK July 30-Aug 2 Regional Campout, Hutchinson, KS October Fall Workshop -- date and location to be determined Editor’s Notes… Send chapter news items, articles, special member recognition, photos, comments, and corrections to the Calling editor, at gary.editor.fcrv@gmail.com. Page 3 The Chaplain’s Words After we were born and our minds begin to develop, the whole world seems to open up around us. Our imagination begins to run wild and we find that we can be whatever we want. A cowboy, a train engineer, a fireman, or even an astronaut. It is only when we begin to understand the word NO that we find that we must develop some type of control. However, the God given gift of imagination allows us to sample the world around us and as we grow older often determines what we become. Imagination may also enable us to invent something that benefits mankind. As adults, one of the things we all imagine at some time in our lives is being able to live in a peaceful world. Wouldn’t it be nice if the love and respect for each other replaced the violence and hate we have in today’s world? Because of the presence of evil in the world today, the peace we crave will never happen; but we have been given the promise of much better things to come. We are told in God’s word that someday we will live in a world where love abounds and we will walk on streets of gold. Why not let our imagination run wild once again, as it did when we were children, and let this promise guide our lives here on earth. If we do, our joy and happiness may rub off on others and the world may become much more peaceful place to live. I thank God that through His word we have been given this hope that allows our imagination to once again become as it was when we were in our youth. I also thank Him for His forgiveness because we are not always perfect children in His eyes, even though we really want to be. Lastly I thank Him for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our salvation. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God Mert Page 4 June Bug Activities Flag Raising Newest FCVR Member Caught One Flag Raising Let’s go fishing Look what I caught ! Page 10 Chapter Meeting Reports The Rollin’ Turtles The Rollin’ Turtles Camping Club met at Rock Creek Station State Park near Fairbury for their June campout. Reinactors were there Saturday which was very interesting but I would think they must have been hot in their costumes. Thursday night was a pot luck and Friday night was a meal at a Bar and Grill in Fairbury. Saturday night we had a Walking Taco supper with was enjoyed by all. There were 23 members present plus two more who came to eat with us. It was really hot but we still got together at the picnic shelter to play cards, games or visit. Every little breeze was appreciated. A tour to Endicott Brick Company was planned for Friday afternoon but because of the heat only 5 people participated Those that went found it very informative and interesting. In the night we had a nice rain, which was needed. People pulled out early Sunday morning to beat the heat. Glenna Chapelle had knee surgery---get well soon. Three families received certificates for years of membership: Joe and Mary Schneiders for 5 years, Al and Pat Smith for 10 years, and Ward and Jan Van Arsdall for 20 years. Submitted by : Willa Lanik Courageous Ramblers We held our June meeti9ng June 11, 2016. We were to camp at Seward but because of the hot weather we decided to stay home. Age and health were a leading factor for the change. We had 6 members and one guest present. Mickey Hetrick Brought her bother Paul. We celebrated Mickey's birthday with cake and ice cream. She turned 59 and said she is an old lady. We changed our July campout to Seward in stead of Memphis. We are hoping for cooler weather. Happy camping to all.
