Even though the Valentine Dinner/Dance was overlooked in the Newsletter, the proverbial “Word of Mouth” took over and made the event a success. Each Lady was presented with a Rose by the greeter John Reynen as they entered the Dining Room. John Reynen The Lodge dining room had red placemats and napkins with Red Hearts on them, a Rose and Candle were the centerpiece. After some cordial visiting we visited the Salad Bar and enjoyed the opportunity to make our own Salad. The meal was a sit down dinner which was served by the Volunteers for the night. The dinner was Steak and Lobster along with twice baked potato and Asparagus. Sour Crème and melted butter accompanied the meal. Our Chef Kevin and his volunteers presented us with a meal that not only looked good on the plate, but tasted very good going down. After a leisurely and enjoyable meal we joined in for some dancing and listening to the Band. The Steak and Lobster dinner was only $15.00 per plate and to help support the Band the cost was $5.00. Where else can you go for a fine dinner and dancing for only $20.00 per person. Come on out and support your Lodge and join in the Fun!!!! “Tommy Moose” to the Rescue Squad Another delivery of “Tommy Moose” toys was welcomed by the Capron Rescue Squad. While delivering the toys, I had the opportunity to sit and talk with two of the Paramedics, Tony Stepansky and Amanda Bouchard. They thanked us for the continued support and donations of the “Tommy Moose” toys and then related some of the stories on the impact of the “Tommy Tony Stepansky Amanda Bouchard Moose” toys when they were dealing with children. When dealing with Children who have a trauma, the back of an Ambulance can be frightening and we have tried several things like Beanie Babies and such, but nothing had the same effect as “Tommy Moose.” On a call for a little girl severely mauled by a dog, we had difficulty calming her down so she could be treated. We talked with her and as soon as we brought out “Tommy Moose,” she took hold of it and wouldn’t let it go. She accepted the necessary care, even though painful on the way to the Hospital. Once there she insisted that “Tommy Moose” not leave her side. One other incident was a scared boy who fought our attempts to treat him, until we demonstrated on a “Tommy Moose” what we needed to do to him on the way to the Hospital. He then accepted our treatment as long as “Tommy Moose” went first. Bernie and Pat Parisot danced the night away Diners enjoying the good dinner and friendly conversation! What is necessary for good Food and Service? The primary ingredient is a good Chef, and your Officer’s have hired one in Kevin Kelley. This young man is dedicated to providing your Lodge with good, and delicious meals. The second ingredient is kitchen support help. Preparation and food handling is needed to present the food to the members. We also need volunteers to help with cleanup during and after the meal. No experience is needed in order to help The third ingredient is Servers to wait tables and make our member feel comfortable and welcome. We all know that the foundation to Loyal Order of Moose is Volunteering. We Volunteer to join and support the Moose So you see, a thing as simple as supporting your Lodge’s Community Service pays off in a BIG WAY!. Also as a Lodge we are helping EMT’s Police and Fireman to better serve the people of our Community. financially by participation in as many of the activities as we are able. We all know that nothing gets done without volunteers. Our new Chef Kevin needs volunteers and he has a monthly log book to sign up volunteers. If you can volunteer only once a month or more, please visit with Kevin and let him know how you can help. All volunteers receive a free meal and refreshment of your choice. Join in the Fun!! The Lodge is also looking for suggestions. All suggestions will be evaluated by the Board of Officers.
