We are pleased to inform you that we are installing Wi-Fi
on all Citation XLS/Excel aircraft in the NetJets fleet.
Installation has already begun and will be completed
by mid-2014. Wi-Fi installation on all midsize and large
cabin aircraft in the NetJets fleet (which began in 2010)
will be completed by the end of 2012, and all new
aircraft entering the NetJets fleet will be equipped with
Wi-Fi. You can use Wi-Fi while flying above 10,000 feet
in the continental United States; there is no additional
cost to Owners for installation and usage.
Last chance for bonus
depreciation
The opportunity to benefit from bonus depreciation on
new aircraft purchases closes on December 31, 2012
due to the expiration of a provision in the tax code.
You may qualify for bonus depreciation if you enter
into a written, binding contract in 2012 for a NetJets
ShareTM and you intend to fly primarily for business. In
addition, you will be able to take advantage of 2012
pricing. NetJets has limited new shares available in
the Gulfstream G200, Phenom 300, Global 5000, and
Global 6000. Contact your Sales Executive or Account
Executive for more information on available shares;
contact your tax advisor for information on bonus
depreciation eligibility.

New NetJets-dedicated facility in Van Nuys
Exclusive-use facility a boon
for Owners traveling to or from
Los Angeles
The new NetJets-dedicated facility at Van Nuys Airport
(KVNY) is now open, and many Owners from southern
California joined us for a grand opening soirée on August 8.
Like our other exclusive-use FBOs, the Van Nuys facility was
designed and constructed to enhance your travel experience
and provide you with exceptional proprietary service and
amenities at one of the airports most frequently used by
NetJets Owners and Marquis Jet Card Owners. It was built to
NetJets’ specifications based on Owner preferences and is
our first exclusive-use facility located west of the Mississippi.
Onsite NetJets Guest Services Representatives greet you
as you enter the 10,000-square-foot terminal, which houses
an Owners’ lounge, a conference and business center, and
flight-planning capabilities. The facility is ideally situated in
the middle of the airfield and includes a seamless passenger
transition to and from the aircraft ramp.
Van Nuys becomes the fourth NetJets-dedicated facility, joining
those at Westchester County Airport (KHPN) in White Plains, NY;
Port Columbus International Airport (KCMH) in Columbus, OH;
and Cincinnati Municipal Airport (KLUK) in Cincinnati, OH. In the
near future, we plan to open several more facilities at the airports
most frequently used by Owners. We will provide you with timely
updates on any new initiatives as appropriate. In fact, we just
broke ground for a new exclusive-use facility at Palm Beach
International Airport (KPBI), which will open in 2013.
We are always exploring ways to enhance your ownership
experience – in the air and on the ground – and establishing
exclusive-use FBOs is just one example of our commitment to
the service we provide you.

Horst & Luisa Ferrero:
Helping children in the wake of tragedy
The loss of their young son, Sebastian, in
2007 didn’t just motivate developers and
NetJets Owners Horst and Luisa Ferrero
to value safety above all else when
it comes to flying their family. It also
inspired them to go beyond the pain and
turn a crushing tragedy into a movement
that shines a much-needed light on the
issue of medical safety and training.
NetJets: Can you tell us a little about what happened to
Sebastian?
Horst Ferrero: To understand what happened, you need to
know a little about our son. Sebastian was our first son and was
a happy, healthy three-year-old. He spoke three languages and
loved to travel with us. We took a family trip to the Baltics, a
real family reunion. I remember thinking how lucky we were to
be with some of our elderly relatives because, perhaps, some
of them would not be around for much longer. Little did we
know we would lose Sebastian. He was small for his age, so our
pediatrician recommended a pretty routine outpatient growth test,
and we took him to be checked out.
NJ: What happened next?
HF: Our son received an overdose of medication during the test,
and a series of preventable medical mistakes led to his death. We
learned that, tragically, this was not uncommon – about 98,000
people in the United States die from mistakes made while under
medical care each year, and a great deal of these deaths are
specifically from mistakes made with medication. It is the leading
cause of accidental death in the country. It’s a very serious
problem.
NJ: How did you and your family possibly cope with such a loss?
HF: Of course it was devastating for my family. But somewhere
along the way, we decided to drain the negative emotions to
honor our son and create something positive. We wanted to get

N E T J E T S U P D AT E
The Ferreros lost their son, Sebastian (shown here in Oslo, Norway), at age 3
the word out about the issue of accidental medical deaths, and
we decided the place to start was our local hospital, Shands
Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
NJ: Anyone would have to admit that it is pretty remarkable
you chose to do that.
HF: We believe it was a natural choice. We launched the
Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, with a dual mission to advocate
and fundraise for improvements in patient safety and a bold vision
for a dedicated children’s hospital. We created the foundation to
help create a state-of-the-art, full-service children’s hospital at
the University of Florida in Gainesville while promoting excellence
in patient safety. We worked with the staff at Shands and the
University of Florida College of Medicine to develop a new kind
of patient safety program, to really try to change how hospitals
and medical professionals care for children and their families and
all patients in general. It started as a grassroots effort between
parents, pediatricians, and so on, but we’ve attracted some key
attention – including from both of Florida’s U.S. Senators, Marco
Rubio and Bill Nelson – as well as financial support.
NJ: Do you have a status report on your efforts?
HF: Yes, the University of Florida in Gainesville is developing a
dedicated children’s hospital. This will be the only full-service
children’s hospital in the state of Florida positioned within a
higher education research institution, treating children from
around the world. The $130 million project has been approved,
and approximately $50 million of the funding needs to come from
philanthropy. Our organization, the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation,
has raised close to $10 million to date.
NJ: Tell us how you came to NetJets
HF: Of course, after Sebastian’s death, we became very
concerned with safety. My research in that area led me to NetJets.
I was impressed not only with all the benefits available for Owners
but also its commitment to safety, its commitment to passenger
health with its travel medical support program, as well as other
factors. But, since we began flying with NetJets three years
ago, I know it goes even deeper than that. The kindness and
consideration shown to my family has made me very grateful to
the company. NetJets makes traveling for business and pleasure
a very convenient and reliable experience.

and Stefano (2) at the Tioga Town Center in Gainesville, Florida
NJ: Do you have any insights for people who may have
experienced a similar loss? Advice about how to “come back
to life”?
HF: It is so very important to tap into the power of the love you feel
for the person you lost. Yes, the loss of our son made us want to help
other children, but that love let those intentions grow and grow. The
foundation and the project it supports were the most meaningful way
to honor Sebastian’s memory, but something like the patient safety
curriculum we support is so important, too. A renewed and fresh
focus on patient safety, procedures, safety education … it is a way
to connect with and communicate to a new generation of doctors
and medical professionals who will study under it and, hopefully, help
reduce the number of such avoidable tragedies in the future.
WANT TO HELP?
The mission of the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, a 501(c)
(3) nonprofit organization, is to advocate and fundraise
for a state-of-the-art, full-service children’s hospital in
Gainesville, Florida, while promoting excellence in patient
safety and ensuring that all families are treated with
compassion, courtesy, and dignity. To learn more, visit

Description
Helpful hints
Autumn foliage along the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, New Hampshire
Traveling on the busiest days of the year
One advantage of flying with NetJets is that we guarantee you
an aircraft, even on the busiest travel days of the year. You just
need to provide more advance notice on the designated Peak
Period Days when demand on the fleet is greatest – and many
of those days are right around the corner.
Slots at mountain airports
The FAA may impose slot restrictions in anticipation of congestion
and inclement weather common at airports in Colorado,
Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and other ski destinations during
the fall/winter season. Contact your Owner Services Team for
information on the 2012-2013 slot program.
For new bookings and any changes to existing flight plans, the
required notice is 48 hours for NetJets Owners* and 120 hours
for Marquis Jet Card Owners. More notice is required for flights
to airports requiring slots.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) releases slots
exactly 72 hours in advance, and slots are usually claimed
within seconds. NetJets’ slot requests for a particular airport
frequently exceed the entire number of slots issued by the FAA
for all general aviation operators. While we manage the slot
system for you, act as your advocate, and endeavor to obtain
a slot for you at your requested departure time, much of the
process is out of our control. If we cannot get a slot for you at
your requested time and/or airport, we will continue to work to
obtain one at a similar time and/or nearby airport.
Even with advance notice, we may request that you accelerate
or delay your departure time by up to three hours, depending
on flight demand. Alternatively, we may offer you a flight on
an aircraft provided by one of our carefully-selected charter
vendors. Of course, you always have the option to decline this
flight for one on a NetJets aircraft, but if you do, you will need
to be more flexible with your schedule.

Travel in the tropics
During the winter holidays, congestion is almost inevitable
at certain airports in the Caribbean and Mexico, including
Princess Juliana International Airport (TNCM) in St. Maarten
and Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (TQPF) in Anguilla.
Slots are not required, but ATC delays may occur and the
airports may close due to limited ramp space. Therefore, we
suggest that you either select an alternate airport that is less
crowded or travel on days other than December 26 and 27,
and January 1 and 2.
For your convenience in Cabo
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is another popular winter destination
subject to delays. Since there are two airports on opposite
ends of the region, we recommend that Owners who are
staying west of the Hilton use Cabo San Lucas International
Airport (MMSL), while those who are staying to the east use
Los Cabos International Airport (MMSD).
• Advance notice is needed for travel on Peak Period Days and
to airports requiring slots.
• You may need to be more flexible with your departure time for
flights on Peak Period Days and to airports requiring slots.
• While it’s always important to arrive on time for your NetJets
flight, it is especially critical when your flight requires a slot,
because you risk losing your slot reservation if you’re late.
• How far in advance you book a flight has no bearing on
whether a slot will be available on the day of your flight, but it

OWNER EXCLUSIVES
NetJets
works with
MedAire
to provide
travel medical
support
OWNER EXCLUSIVES
Healthy choice
On August 1, MedAire replaced Mayo Clinic as the in-flight
and ground-based medical services provider for NetJets.
MedAire provides medical resources for NetJets Owners
and Marquis Jet Card Owners, whether you are in flight on a
NetJets aircraft or on the ground anywhere in the world in the
course of your travels.
The decision to work with MedAire, an International SOS
company, was made after extensive review and comparison
of the services provided by various organizations, and it was
clear that MedAire provided the most comprehensive set of
services. The decision also aligns NetJets U.S. operations with
those of NetJets Europe and Executive Jet® Management,
which already use MedAire, allowing all NetJets companies
and Owners to have the same medical services provider.
In-flight services
In the event of an in-flight medical issue, the NetJets flight
crew connects directly with MedAire. They speak with critical
care doctors who are dedicated to providing comprehensive
medical support and recommend a diversion to the flight
crew if they determine it would be best to treat the patient on
the ground. When necessary, MedAire helps arrange medical
assistance utilizing local emergency services that meet the
plane when it lands.
MEDAIRE WORLD MAP
In-flight services include:
• In-flight medical assistance from MedAire doctors who
operate within a Level I Trauma Center and manage over
22,000 in-flight medical cases per year.
• Doctor and nurse escorts who accompany passengers
home onboard commercial or private aircraft, when
medically necessary.*
• Evacuation support should a deteriorating medical situation
pose a significant threat.*
• Dedicated fleet of air ambulances supporting emergency
evacuations.* The fleet is equipped with medical emergency
equipment and personnel and is maintained by International SOS.
Every NetJets aircraft is equipped with state-of-the-art
emergency medical supplies from MedAire, including
specially designed lifesaving medical kits, emergency oxygen,
automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and descriptive
medical manuals. All NetJets flight crews receive extensive
training in the use of these aviation-specific medical supplies
and in responding to medical issues.
On-the-ground services
When you travel, you have the ability to consult with MedAire
doctors and nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You
receive immediate, detailed assistance to determine when and
where to seek medical attention worldwide. When traveling
in countries with inadequate medical infrastructures, you have
access to dozens of clinics that follow international healthcare
standards and are owned and operated by International SOS, the
parent company of MedAire.
On-the-ground services include:
• General medical and travel assistance 24 hours a day
supported by dedicated physicians and 31 Global Response
Centers.
• Pre-travel advice via phone and email regarding traveling
with health conditions and into areas lacking medical
standards.
• Travel assistance services should you lose documents
(e.g., passport, wallet) or need medication replaced.
• Access to dozens of medical clinics that follow
international healthcare standards in countries where
adequate medical infrastructures are limited or nonexistent.
Clinics are owned and operated by International SOS, the
world’s leading healthcare, medical assistance, and security
services company.
• Executive trip watches for those traveling with a passenger
who has special or high-risk medical needs.

Meet
Don Ross,
one of
NetJets’
longesttenured
pilots
FEATURES
World Traveler
With 26 years of experience flying for NetJets, pilot Don Ross has
had a unique and remarkable VIP seat to watch the development
and growth of private aviation. And, over the years, his service to
the company has afforded him an endless supply of pleasurable
memories and unforgettable moments in the air.
Aviation by the book
After spending his early years in Rockville Centre, Long Island,
Don Ross’ family relocated to the St. Louis area when he was 14.
Ross stayed in his adopted state right through college, eventually
earning a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of
Missouri. Flying came a little later and almost by necessity. As
Ross explains, “I got a job as a regional rep for Cessna Finance
Corp., the airplane maker’s captive finance arm. This was a great
opportunity for me, and I went and logged some time at a junior
college ground school.” Ross was given access to a Cessna 172
Skyhawk to cover his vast region of the country, setting up dealer
lines of credit, offering financing to buyers, and also dealing with
collections and resale of aircraft for his area.
“I ended up working for Cessna for over nine years and logged
about 2,600 flight hours in my tenure,” he tells us. “And
somewhere along the line I helped a Cessna salesman get a
job with an operation called Executive Jet [NetJets’ precursor].
Something told me I should keep an eye on that company and
stay in touch with my contacts there.”
NetJets, naturally
Executive Jet grew into NetJets and, in 1986, Ross would find
himself involved personally. “NetJets purchased eight Cessna
aircraft (Citation 500 SIIs) in anticipation of the growth and
popularity of the fractional ownership idea; I kind of ended up
coming along with the planes,” he quips. Ross initially worked
as a co-pilot and pilot onboard the Citations. “I continued to
log hours and experience, and NetJets continued to grow,” he
says. “I mixed flying with other duties, such as heading up the
delivery and acceptance teams of new aircraft – a test pilot
gig, essentially. I also worked as an evaluator for flight planning
systems and served as an instructor for new NetJets pilots.”
In addition, Ross, whose father was an investment banker,
evaluated and fostered the first 401(k) program for the NetJets
pilots and became involved with the charity Pilots for Kids,
which started by touring children’s hospitals in NetJets’ home
base of Columbus, Ohio, and is now a worldwide organization.
Something big – really big – on the horizon, however, would soon
bring Ross back to flying full-time.

Unexpected role in national defense
In 2001, NetJets began the Boeing Business Jet program
that offered Owners access to the commercial-airframe BBJ.
NetJets Gulfstream GIV-SP pilot Don Ross in Teterboro, New Jersey
Even though these large jets have since been phased out of
the NetJets fleet and Ross himself has gone on to pilot the
Gulfstream GIV-SP, his nine-year stint as a BBJ pilot is the source
of some of his most distinct memories of flying.
“There was a trip very early on in the BBJ program in which we
moved high-level members of the U.S. Department of Defense
with a direct line to the president in and out of several Middle
East countries: Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and
Qatar,” Ross says. “I can only guess what their official business
was except to line up support (agreement for troop bases) for the
oncoming invasion of Iraq, and they had wanted a more low-key
mode of transport than the typical military transport.”
While the flight crew was in Kuwait, Ross was told to load the
BBJ with enough fuel to be prepared to fly out of harm’s way –
down to Bahrain – in case Saddam Hussein started lobbing scud
missiles into Iraq’s tiny neighboring country, as he periodically
did during that time. “The emergency flight would have been
without our passengers as they would be picked up by helicopter
and flown out to one of the aircraft carriers in the area and then
rendezvous with our jet,” Ross explains. Although no scuds were
fired while Ross and company were in Kuwait, “there was nothing
like waking up in the middle of the night to the prayer towers
blaring a call to prayer to remind us that ‘we weren’t in Kansas
anymore,’” Ross says. Never knowing if or when a missile strike
could take place, he continues, “I did not venture out to the
marketplace in Kuwait, but some of our more adventuresome
crewmembers did.”
The road ahead
So what is Ross’ assessment of how things have changed for
NetJets over the years? Would the pilot who was hired in 1986
recognize the company he works for today? “There has been a
tremendous amount of growth,” Ross tells us. “We’ve gone from
a purely domestic service to a truly international one. We’ve gone
from operating a few types of aircraft to operating a large and
multifaceted fleet. We’ve gone from flying – almost exclusively –
regional business owners to also flying celebrities and heads of
state. But I’ll tell you, the beauty and flexibility of what NetJets
does means that we still service our customers from the early,
early days just as well as we service our newer clients. With the
right mix of ownership options, the right fleet, and with the help
of the terrific staff I’ve been lucky to work with for the past 26
years, I can assure you NetJets will not only continue to grow, but
also continue to stick to the basic tenets of customer service and
safety excellence that started back in 1986.”

Celebrating 25 years of ownership
NetJets honors Tyler Cain and Ned Jannotta, the first-ever fractional Owners
After boarding hundreds of NetJets flights in their 25 years
of ownership, Tyler and Talbot Cain and Ned and Debbie
Jannotta knew the one on September 5 from Waukegan, Illinois
to Columbus, Ohio would be different. For starters, NetJets
President and COO Bill Noe – formerly a NetJets Chief Pilot –
was personally piloting their flight, on a Gulfstream GV. And once
they landed, NetJets executives greeted them to kick off a full
day of festivities during which the company acknowledged two
men who took a chance on fractional aircraft ownership a quarter
century ago – and still fly with NetJets today.
Recalling the first time he’d heard about NetJets in 1987, Mr.
Cain said, “I had seen a short blurb in a Friday Wall Street Journal
about this new NetJets fractional ownership concept and just
figured the reporter had gotten it wrong. The next week, I called
the head of sales and asked him if this was for real.”
Tyler Cain meets NetJets Tactical Manager Michelle Musselman and other members
of his Owner Services Team
“I will continue to work with NetJets because, in
25 years, I have had zero scheduling mishaps.
The customer service follow-up is so exacting
and complete. Everything has gone smoothly,
exactly the way I wanted.”
– Tyler Cain
After receiving a warm welcome from NetJets executives, the
guests of honor entered the Flight Center to a round of applause
from over 300 Owner Services employees. The Cains and
Jannottas enjoyed a guided tour and met their Team in person
for the first time. Mr. Jannotta even booked a flight while chatting
with Michelle Musselman, their Team’s Tactical Manager. Later,
they spent time in the simulator at FlightSafety®, alternating at the
controls while Bill Noe provided instruction from the first officer’s
seat. Both men appreciated the extremely realistic experience,
though Mr. Cain noted that he’d flown “under” the Golden Gate
Bridge and Mr. Jannotta crash-landed into a grassy field.
With their piloting experience under their belt, the fractional
aircraft ownership pioneers were driven back to NetJets
headquarters for a final, special honor. NetJets Chairman and
CEO Jordan Hansell dedicated the fourth-floor boardroom to
Tyler Cain and the first-floor boardroom to Ned Jannotta. As each
Owner entered his respective boardroom, employees who were
gathered inside gave them a standing ovation. Both men and
their wives were clearly moved, though Mr. Jannotta managed
to keep the moment light. “You must not have seen me in that
simulator,” he joked. “You wouldn’t be applauding, then.”
