The Chronicle- St. Francis Xavier May 22, 2015 THE CHRONICLE Established 2010 | Volume 5| Issue 3 ISSUE HIGHLIGHTS This is the Final Issue for this school year! What are the Teachers Doing this Summer? Play a cool mix and match game to find out on page 11. Crusader Camp May Crowning By: Sally and Jamie The May Crowning was a huge success! Have you ever wondered why we crown Mother Mary on May first? We crown Mary because she was crowned as the Queen of Heaven and Earth during the fifth Glorious Mystery, The Coronation of Mary. On this day, we celebrate how Mary accepted God's request to be the mother of Jesus, the son of God. May Crowning takes place on May first because it is traditional to celebrate Mary during the month of May. This year, the eighth graders looked beautiful in their colorful dresses and suits. Alex P. and Luke K. were the crowners of Mary. This is one of the many special events that the eighth graders participate in before their graduation on June fifth. Soon, they will be going to Six Flags and a Cubs game. Also, the eighth graders did a fabulous job on their play! An interview with Mrs. Larkin about the summer crusader camp on page 12. Saint Francis Xavier School 8 The Chronicle- St. Francis Xavier May 22, 2015 Reflective Moment By: KC and PB There are many wonderful things in life. What exactly are joys of life? They are the things that make us happy. Here are some examples of joys in life. For example, some lady we stopped on the street said I was strange. I guess that is a joy because I was expressing my true self. Another man at the grocery was buying some chocolates. Chocolates are a joy of life because they taste SO good. Some dude in headphones was listening to awesome songs. Songs are such a joy because they get you on your feet and dancing! An alpaca I saw at the zoo started taking a sandwich out of my hand. To him, sandwiches are joys of life because they are the best food he ever gets. I once saw a guy eat 13 fries at a time. I guess eating 13 fries is a joy in life because fries are just alpacamazing! One time a girl was reading a book about people sitting on porcupines. I guess knowing random facts is a joy because knowledge is power. I once saw a man opening cereal with a free Star Wars poster. He didn't get the one he wanted so he threw things to the ground and broke them. He seemed happy later. I guess that's a joy if being angry is a good thing because you can express your frustration privately. In conclusion, there are many joys of life. So what are your joys of life? ~K.C and P.B That's great! But what does it mean? There are many important points of this article that we'd like to tell you. First of all, expressing your true self and your opinions is a joy in life. Another joy is food, because it makes us happy. A third joy is music because we can dance the night away with out anybody caring. Music also makes us happy. Another joy in life is animals. They are really cute and know how to entertain us. More specifically, ALPACAS. Knowledge is a joy because knowing things about things is a joy. It makes us feel SPECIAL. One last joy of life is expressing your true feelings because you feel better once you get all your anger out in private. So those are what the joys of life mentioned above mean. :) Authors' Note: "Some are strange while some are normal. You are a human with one life. It's up to you to make the most of it. We are all humans. We only have one life and then we die. It's up to us to do whatever makes us happy. There is too much fun in the world to be sad. So live your life right now and don't listen to other people who try to bring you down. If you like making thousands of squareflakes and sticking them to every surface, go ahead. If you like lip-syncing to Taylor Swift everyday after school, go for it! You may think, but isn't that a little bit strange? Yeah, it is. But being strange is a good thing." ~K.C © King Candy and Princess Buttercup. Saint Francis Xavier School 9 The Chronicle- St. Francis Xavier May 22, 2015 Comics (Continued) Henchmen, attack!
