My wife and I had a great time and would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. “We traveled with Ron on his 17 day African Safari to Kenya and Tanzania to fulfill a childhood dream to see the wild animals of Africa. We have traveled with you FIVE times, Ron, and would like to think about what we want to do next year with you, once again. The fulfillment of this dream could never have been better. We were within just feet of most of the animals! Ron, you cater to each person’s needs. The accommodations on all your trips are second to none, the food is excellent, and your planning skills are fabulous. Thanks again for a Trip of A Lifetime!” Everything went as planned, GREAT accommodations and food (even the luxurious tent with the ensuite bath and reading room). The mini-bus drivers were very knowledgeable about wildlife, plantlife, politics and local customs. Doris & John M. AFRICAN SAFARI “Once again, we have enjoyed a great tour designed by Ron. This is a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME tour which we recommend to those with adventure in their souls. The surprise early morning bus trip around London, was very much appreciated during our layover at Heathrow on our return journey.” It was an exciting adventure to tour Kenya with Ron, where we were able to view many wild animals up very close! Our visits to tribal villages gave us an insight into rural life in Kenya. We enjoyed some unique accommodations, great meals and fun times throughout the safari. As always, we left all our concerns to Ron, who took care of all the details so very capably. We have returned home with great photos and treasured memories… of a very special holiday. Thank you Ron and Wendi. “ Stan & Marge N. Shirley & Russ A. AFRICAN SAFARI Ron’s tour was very well organized and ran smoothly. Traveling companions were great. All the “extras” that Ron includes make this a memorable trip. Seeing “the wilds” of Africa has been a life-long dream which has now been realized and I look forward to traveling again with Ron! Wendi found some treasures in this little store! (B / L / D) Nairobi, Kenya’s capital is a well-planned modern city of over one million inhabitants. The word Nairobi is derived from the Maasai or Masai word meaning “Cold Water”. The city is justly described as a garden city as its broad avenues are lined with flowering plants and shrubs. Situated at an altitude of 5,500 feet, it enjoys hot sunny days and cool evenings. The Samburu National Reserve took its name from the massive cone of volcanic rock that dominates this region. The landscape is similar to nearby Samburu with riverine forests, Acacia and Doum palms. This area is famous for the association with Kenya's most renowned conservationists, George and Joy Adamson and their lioness Elsa. Samburu National Reserve is right next to the Shaba and Buffalo Springs reserves, and borders the Ewaso Ngiro River. We will enjoy game drives, our lodge (for two nights) and perhaps a dip in the blue waters of the swimming pool, or viewing wildlife at a watering hole from the lounge. This evening following dinner at the restaurant you may enjoy relaxing at the lounge with a Tusker beer, a chance to get to know your fellow travelers. (B / L / D) Day 06 Samburu/Buffalo Springs Day 07 Cont’d Today, our morning game drive will provide an opportunity to capture the essence of the African SemiDesert and later in the afternoon, we will have ample time to relax by the pool. A relaxing day! In 1979, the Canadian Embassy funded the construction of a washing and dyeing room and also a verandah which was to be used as the display shop for the finished products for the customers. Samburu, provides one of the few sanctuaries in Kenya for the endangered Grevy’s Zebra, the rare Beisa Oryx, the Blue-Shanked Somali Ostrich and the DikDik (a tiny antelope) while large herds of Elephant roam the gaunt hills during the day before returning to bathe on the banks of the river in the evening. The central feature of the reserve is the winding and looping Ewaso Nyiro River. On either side of the river a green ribbon presents a gallery of Forest Acacia, Doum Palm and Tamarind, which act as host to a multitude of birdlife. The center boasts of having to use locally available raw materials from the surrounding Highlands to bring beautiful African designs of Carpets, Shawls, Cardigans, Throws, Pullovers, Scarves and Bedcovers into many contemporary homes. Ron has arranged a Special Surprise for our group this later afternoon While in Nanyuki, we make a brief stop at the Equator, where you view a simple water test to ascertain the magnetic effect on the northern & southern sphere. Upon arrival at Ol Pejeta, Ron has a Special Surprise for our group. Later this afternoon, we will set out on an excursion to the Nanyuki Weavers and Spinners. (Subject to time & availability). The self help women project was started with the main aim of training poor, widowed and single women living in the surrounding villages of Nanyuki town in the craft of Spinning, Knitting and Weaving with the main objective of making them self-reliant. Sweetwaters / Ol Pejeta Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a 200-acre sanctuary that has been set up at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. A visit to this sanctuary is a must. The aim of the project, initiated by Lonrho East Africa, Kenya Wildlife Services and the Jane Goodall Institute, was to set up a colony where chimps could be introduced, rehabilitated and taught to fend for themselves in an area similar to their natural living conditions. Priority is given to orphaned and abused chimps. Did you know that chimpanzees have 98.6% of our genes? Ron has arranged a Special Surprise for our group today - Bring your camera! On our game drive, we are in search of the 'Big Five' including rare Black Rhinos, Lions, Elephants, Giraffes and others. You might like to enjoy our unique lodge by having a relaxing drink at the bar with views of the beautiful property and wildlife. (B / L / D) Day 10 Lake Navashai Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus.
