FROM SEATTLE: • Drive time approximately 2.5 hrs. • Head South on I.5 through Olympia then take Exit 104 Aberdeen, Ocean Beaches) Highway 101 North. • Stay on main highway, it becomes Highway 8 W then becomes Highway 12 W at Elma. • Upon reaching Aberdeen, follow the signs to Hwy 101 N to Hoquiam and OceanBeaches. (Do not take the Westport Exit). • Move to the left lane before crossing the Hoquiam bridge. You will curve to the right. At the second traffic light turn left onto Highway 109. Marked “Ocean Shores and Ocean Beaches.” • Approximately 18 miles later, turn left off of Highway 109 onto Highway 115 (Marked OYEHUT/ Ocean Shores). • Hwy 115 becomes Damon Road as you curve to the right. Turn left into Ocean Shores through the stone gates. FROM • • • • PORTLAND: Driving time approxi mately 2.5 hrs Take I-5 heading north. Turn off I-5 at exit 88B to Elma then turn left onto Highway 12. Upon reaching Aberdeen, follow the signs to Hwy 101 N to Hoquiam and Ocean Beaches. April Photo & Fine Arts Show: Associated Arts of Ocean Shores sponsors one of the largest shows in Washington. More than 400 photos and a variety of fine arts. Free admission. May Grays Harbor County Expo: A little something for everyone: Home Show, Fine Art Expo, Chain Saw Carving, a Hot Rod and Classic Car Show and more. June Ocean Shores International Kite Challenge: A great family event for novice to professional kite enthusiasts. Come fly your own, or just to watch these colorful denizens of the sky. Flag Day Parade: Enjoy an oldfashioned parade to honor our nation’s flag as bands and other entries march through downtown Ocean Shores. July Fire O’er the Water: Watch from the beach as Ocean City lights up the sky with fireworks on the 4th. The New Sun and Surf Event: Over 2000 motorcycle riders enjoy a beach fire, fireworks, motorcycle parades, stunt riders, bike events and vendors. August Fun Fly in Ocean Shores: Come fly a kite! It’s great fun for everyone from novice to professional... spectators too, with a sky full of brightly colored wind machines. September Arts and Crafts Festival: One of the largest arts and crafts festivals in Southwest Washington. Convention Center. Free entry. From waterfowl to migratory birds, predators to prey, you’ll marvel at the action and diversity. Visit Damon Point for a chance to see the snowy plover, peregrine falcons and brown pelicans. For freshwater fishing, try Duck Lake or any of the inland canals. Surf fishing is best at Damon Point State Park near the maina—also the best place to go crabbing. For movie information call 360.289.1234 ACTIVITIES PUBLIC PARKS: Relax or organize a picnic at any of the Ocean Shores public parks. North Bay Park on Albatross and Chance A LA Mer features a softball field, tennis court, boat launch, covered picnic area and restrooms. Other community parks provide for horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and football, BBQ pits and restrooms. Weatherwax Walk features a walk through the unspoiled wooded areas of Ocean Shores. Find maps and more at Visitor Information. SWIMMING: As inviting as the ocean may be, we don’t recommend swimming in it. Rip currents can be hazardous. However, Duck Lake offers freshwater swimming. And many hotels & motels in Ocean Shores feature swimming pools. • Ramada, 360.289.7700, open to public. SIGHTSEEING: Make Ocean Shores your home base while exploring Lake Quinault, the Olympic Rain Forest (take Hwy 101) or the area’s cranberry bogs. Drive up the coast (Hwy109) to Ocean City, Copalis Beach, Pacific Beach, Moclips, or spend the day exploring the lakes and canals throughout Ocean Shores. STORM WATCHING: Winter storms provide the most spectacular storm watching as 25-ft seas and high winds batter the coast. The North Jetty provides an excellent vantage point but is extremely dangerous. Do NOT go near the rocks. Check with the Ocean Shores Police Department for safety issues. TENNIS ANYONE? Drop-in tennis courts are located at Emerson Park on Bass Avenue or North Bay Park on Albatross. Pacific Park Courts on Ocean Shores Blvd. are available with advance permission from the Ocean Shores Community Club. VIDEO GAMES: Always a popular choice for indoor fun!
