Name: Title: Phone: Email: Matthew Styer Research Analyst 602.262.8626 mstyer@gpec.org Research Analyst Matt Styer contributes to the GPEC team’s expertise in regional economics, finance, policy formation and analysis of market opportunities in emerging technologies. He also works closely with the Innovation Council to shape Greater Phoenix’s future, providing technical and strategic assistance. Matt comes to GPEC from Cornell University, where he obtained a master’s in regional planning and a certificate in real estate. His focus was on large-scale redevelopment, infrastructure finance and public-private partnerships. While at Cornell, he worked on social impact investment as a consultant to USAID, and on a healthy food-real estate initiative with the New York City Department of Health. Prior to Cornell, Matt was with Veolia Transportation and the City of Tempe. While there, he crafted highly successful passenger outreach campaigns and designed improvements to the city’s transit system. Previous experience includes a variety of policy analysis and public relations roles. Matt maintains a role on the alumni board of Phi Kappa Tau at the University of Arizona, where he earned a bachelor’s in international studies, with stints in Mexico and the Czech Republic. In his free time, he can be found (though not easily) enjoying Arizona’s wide-open landscapes while hiking, climbing and biking.
