how can we help?
The first step is to identify if your health
might be at risk going to this location. Then
we will assess what different illnesses you will
At this time, Manitoba Health does not cover the costs of consultation for travel health nor does it cover
the costs of vaccinations and medication that might be prescribed, other than those vaccinations already
covered by the provincial program. We understand that this can be an extra cost and try to keep costs to a
minimum. Most vaccinations are stocked on site and are available for purchase at cost. A recent price list

clinic will send you a questionnaire that will
help us tailor our advice specifically to your
needs. We will then schedule an initial visit
with you to discuss this advice, what vaccines
are recommended and if any are mandatory
for that location. We will also work to help
you identify and reduce potential health risks
while on your trip. At the conclusion of that
first visit you will leave with an agreed,
written, action plan to help you better enjoy
your trip.
Niverville Medical Clinic was started almost 10
yrs ago by Drs Chris & Mairi Burnett, two family
physicians who moved to Manitoba in the 90’s.
Both have travelled widely and worked in India,
DRC (Africa) and Albania, before settling in
rural Manitoba with their 3 boys. Both took their
training , and diploma, in Tropical Medicine and
Hygiene at the Leopold Institute in Antwerp,
Belgium. Dr Chris has continued with an active
interest in travel health and is now formally
launching this travel health service for our
region, with the cooperation of Southern Health.
We will also be assisted by a nurse, trained in
public health, funded by the clinic, to give what
is expected to be, quality and comprehensive
advice from our collective experience .
There will be times, rarely, when your needs
surpass the expertise of the clinic and we may
then offer to refer you to a specialist in
Infectious Diseases, in Winnipeg
