I am sure that is not the first time any of you have heard that, but seriously it is so hard to believe we are starting the last month of the first quarter of 2015. Genesee County Senior Winters Games for 2015 sure did get off to a rocky start. Unfortunately as many of you know we had to cancel the Opening Ceremony and the Pie Eating contest. I can assure you there were a lot of early morning phone calls going on between TV stations, Senior Center Directors and many more behind the scenes organizations to make sure we cancelled everything. You never know what Mother Nature is going to send your way till it happens. Thank you everyone for all your cooperation. Good News: Wednesday Exercise Class has returned; starting Wednesday, March 4th, from 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. I hope you will consider giving this class a try. We have been fortunate enough to start another form of exercise class known as “Strengthening & Toning” that is starting on Friday, March 6th, at 9 a.m. Both of these classes sound very interesting. The center is hosting two programs this month; on Friday, March 13th a class we have had before and was very well received is returning “Kidney Smart” this class is taught by a certified Kidney Smart Instructor. The other class is sponsored by McLaren Health Care and is called Pelvic Floor: An Owner’s Manual. It is designed for women and is taught in a casual manner to help women understand this condition. This will be on Monday, March 16th. These two classes are free. Please don’t forget to patronize our advertisers, without their support and your donations our newsletter would not be the beautiful reading material it is. DID YOU KNOW: We have Yoga at the center two times a week? It is on Thursday and Saturday at 8 a.m. It is a one hour session, it consist of an easy workout and a 10 minute deep relaxation following. (CLASS IS NOT HELD ON THE SECOND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH) Please do not forget to come and see me if you have a key to the building or a room here for the Senior Center. ͼΒΥΙΪ͑ ͼΒΥΙΪ͑ 810.658.1566 • 810.658.8044 Fax • www.davison-sc.org 3 Coming Events Sunday Bash Ask a Lawyer—FREE Saturday, March 1, 2015 ~ 4:00—6:30 p.m. Practices Law in Wills & Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Probate, Real Estate, Family Law, General Civil, Landlord/Tenant, Traffic & Criminal Lori Tallman, PLC Variety Music By Jim & Betty Hedrich $8.00 pp at the Door Includes: Light Lunch, Snacks & Beverages, Music for your listening & dancing enjoyment. TURN OFF LIGHTS—Help cut electricity costs by turning lights off when they’re not needed, and make it a habit every time you leave a room. To help you remember, try leaving eye-catching reminders next to light switches and doorways. ADJUST THERMOSTAT A FEW DEGREES—Heating and cooling can account for more than half of your home’s energy use. When you are away from home or sleeping, adjust your temperature by 10 degrees to save energy. UTILIZE POWER STRIPS—Many computers, televisions, and other “vampire” devices use power even when they’re off. Plug these devices into an easy-to-reach power strip and turn it off when you are not using them. REDUCE WATER HEATER TEMPERATURE—Water heating accounts for up to 20 percent of a typical home’s energy use. Lowering your water heater’s temperature from 140 degrees F to 120 degrees F can result in a 10% savings on water heating costs and help prevent scalding.
