Welcome to a new and exciting school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer break, filled with opportunities to learn and grow. The faculty and I are thrilled that you have entrusted your children’s education to us. We will make every effort to help your child achieve academically and socially this year. Being a parent comes with many delights and ever-changing challenges. Going back to school can be for many children a difficult situation. It is always helpful to talk with your children about school and help prepare them for the year. Here are a few tips to assist you as we begin a new school year. Find a way for your children to feel comfortable leaving you. For many, the hardest part of going back to school is saying goodbye to you. Develop a ritual everyday such as, “Have a great day! I love you. I will see you at 2!” This may help them feel at ease. You could also give them a small token to keep with them during the day that will remind them of you. Calm their fears. Anxiety can play a big role when returning to school. Talk with your children about some of their worries. This may help ease some of the fears they may be experiencing. Help your children learn how to express their needs and feelings. Have conversations with your child about the importance of asking questions when they are unsure of class material or are in a difficult social situation. I am delighted to be here at Corpus Christi School! Corpus Christi School has an excellent teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge. The faculty and I are dedicated to building a safe, compassionate community of lifelong learners who are scholars, creators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. We believe high expectations yield academic transformation for all students. We continue to be committed to doing our part in ensuring your child achieves academic excellence. I wish you and your child a blessed school year! I also look forward to a productive and eventful year! Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself. As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Peace, Ann T. Sarpu Administrative / School Notes New Clubs…. Join Us! All children enrolled in the Pre-K program are required by CT state law to get the seasonal influenza vaccination by December 31, 2016. Please be sure to send in documentation when your child receives it. For the rest of the community, the vaccination is optional but highly recommended. Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by a virus. It spreads from person-toperson and can cause mild to severe illness. In the United States, yearly outbreaks of seasonal flu usually begin in the fall and continue through the early spring. Getting vaccinated, washing your hands, getting plenty of sleep and eating healthy, are great ways to keep from getting sick. So don't take a chance, THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT THE FLU IS BY GETTING AN ANNUAL FLU SHOT .
