Year of the Bible The Ministry emphasis Theme for Parkwood Baptist Church in 2013 will be: Did you know ?.......that if the Bible were read at a normal speaking pace, it could be read from cover to cover in approximately 75 hours. Did you know?...... that the average American spends 5 hours a day watching TV. If 5 hours a day were spent reading the Bible, it could be read completely in 15 days. Did you know?....... if you just spent 12.5 minutes per day, you could read the entire Bible in one year? Will you prayerfully consider being a part of our church-wide Bible reading challenge for 2013? You can prayerfully consider one of the 3 commitment levels of Bible reading for the coming year. If you are ready to commit to one of the challenges today, just tear off tab and check your commitment level. Starting next week, we will provide some tools that will help you with your challenge. You will also receive an encouragement email or note (for those who do not have email) throughout the year to encourage you on your journey! Don’t miss out on this exciting challenge! It will change your life! The Adventure Continues! Michael Waters, Pastor Lottie Moon Christmas Offering OBEDIENT: His Heart/His Hands/His Voice Focus Scripture - Matthew 16:24-25 Find out more at imb.org/weekofprayer This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the death of Lottie Moon on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1912. Charlotte Digges “Lottie” Moon was forced to return to America after serving in China because she had stopped eating and weighed only 50 pounds. Lottie had given her food to others because of the famine in China. Lottie died on the ship in the port of Kobe, Japan. As we emphasize and pray for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, we must remember her life of sacrifice and pray about what we will give personally to the offering. Our church goal is $30,000. As the offering is collected, each “candle” will represent $300. When all 100 candles fill the board in the vestibule the goal will be met. RECEIVED TO DATE: $2,734.25 Saxophone Concert 1. Thank You Church Family Thank you to the church family and staff for the plaque, cards and gifts in recognition of my service here at Parkwood. Words cannot express the love and support I’ve been shown all these years. It has been a true blessing to work with such great people. ~ Joyce Ritchie Thank you for placing 8 Gideon Bibles in Mother’s name. She had a burden for the lost and hurting and would be so pleased God’s Word provided in her name may reach an unsaved soul or bring comfort to someone. Your prayers, cards and calls have greatly helped to sustain me during the difficult days of Mother’s illness and home going. And I appreciate each and every one. I really miss her and always will, but knowing she is in Heaven with Jesus bring peace and joy. God bless you all. ~ Glenda White Welcome New Church Members Loren Waites Son of Mike & Amy Waites Brent & Brenda Frazier and their children Lindsay & JB Recovery Trip to New Jersey December 10-15 Contact Bennett Cook if you are interested in going on this trip.
