Update on 2010 Region 12 Show
Preparations for the 2010 Region 12 Championship Arabian and Half-Arabian Horse Show are progressing very nicely. Some new
developments for the show include a brand new indoor arena and covered warm-up that will be used for the sport horse and dressage classes. This will open up additional stall space in the multi-purpose building for those divisions as well. If you have ever thought
of showing in dressage or sport horse classes at Region 12, now is the time! Another much asked for development in the main arena
includes the addition of AATR classes for the western, hunter and country english pleasure classes in both arabian and halfarabian. Now adult amateurs will have two opportunities to show their horses! The increasingly popular Spotlight Program will be
adding additional classes as the nominated horses grow into the program and auction night will be, once again, a "do not miss"
event. Finally, we will continue to highlight our Slot Class program. I have assigned co-chairpersons on this project to get the word out
on the benefits of this program.
I am extremely honored to have been entrusted with coordinating this great show. I would like to thank everyone on the show commission, the Director and the executive board for their continuing support. I am also open to suggestions from Region 12 exhibitors on
how to make the show even better. Please feel free to contact me at nan_harley@yahoo.com.
Slow March to Minnesota
During one of the many lively breeding discussions that have occurred among friends, Robert and Kenna Burbeck and Denni
Mack, the subject was Foxfire BHF (Falcon BHF x Tevkah). Having seen and admired him more than once at US Nationals as a Hunter
shown by Larry Hoffman, the Russian line was also of interest in his pedigree. In 2006, out of curiosity, Robert and Kenna attended
the Minnesota Medallion Fall Fest. Their impressions were positive and, when the gavel fell on the auction breeding to Foxfire, they
were signing on the dotted line. A phone call to Denni and, enthusiastically, a partnership was formed between K2 Arabians and
Koweta Arabians and a Koweta mare would be the dam of the resulting auction foal. The following year, Foxfire was sold to Australia and the LAST shipment of semen before he boarded the plane found its way to Monticello, Georgia. Hallelujah, success! In
April, 2008, Koweta Sonatina (AM Gypsy Village x Sonatas Heaven) presented a very exciting bay filly. And in May of 2009, as a
yearling, Jorja Redd Foxx was deposited into the talented hands of Ted Carson for the single purpose of traveling to Minnesota to
compete in the yearling filly auction class. Over the next few months, “Foxx” was conditioned and trained and the excitement of the
upcoming competition mounted. On October 3rd, 2009, eighteen fillies were presented to the five judges and were scored. Region
12’s awesome Kentley Dean presented Foxx in perfect fashion. Excitement mounted as the filly was called back among the Top
Five. The suspense was incredible as they announced 5th, 4th, 3rd and Reserve. JORJA REDD FOXX was Champion receiving a
check for $30, 257.50. The stars aligned and a three-year plan came together. As a bonus, she scored 364, high score of the entire show! The next stop in the itinerary is now in progress. Go West, young filly, Go West!
