Designed in the 1980s by T. Taveira, the Amoreiras Centre has remained an alltime favourite for Lisbon high-end buyers. Twenty years after its opening, important changes took place in the retail context of Portugal. www.promontorio.net Upper floor plan Namely, an increase in the purchasing power and consumer habits of Lisbon shoppers and a string of new and highly efficient shopping centres all over the city, challenging the catchment area of Amoreiras. In the wake of this competitive setting, PROMONTORIO was invited to renovate the public areas of Amoreiras. This required identifying the main constitutive elements and simultaneously updating its 1980s strong decorative theming, without erasing its strong postmodern identity. The proposal aims to reinforce the vintage originality of the existing space, revising the commercial layout and all its key internal spaces. In addition, the project addresses a comprehensive renovation of lighting systems, flooring, walls, ceiling, bulkheads, signage and furniture.
