GLENDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
welcome
to VAQUERO
BASKETBALL
Glendale Community College has a proud history in men’s basketball for over 80 years,
and we are confident that tradition will continue throughout the 2011-2012 season.
It has long been our goal at the college to provide a positive and affirmative
atmosphere where student-athletes can flourish both in the classroom and on the
basketball court. Our goal as a coaching staff is to help each of our student-athletes
matriculate to a four-year institution.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have been supportive of
Glendale College Men’s Basketball over the past years because without your
contributions and assistance, the task of the players and coaches would have been
that much more difficult.
In Hoops,
Brian Beauchemin
Head Basketball Coach

Brian Beauchemin - Head Basketball Coach - 32nd Year
“What you do today, do it better tomorrow.” Brian Beauchemin’s philosophy is why
success currently surrounds the Glendale College men’s basketball program both on
the court and in the classroom. For 33 years, Coach Beauchemin has been the head of
the men’s basketball program at Glendale College. He has won 546 games against 441
losses for a winning percentage of over 50%, and is the winningest coach in Glendale
College history. Coach Beauchemin is in his 33rd season at Glendale, and recorded his
500th career victory for the Vaqueros on Feb 6, 2008, a 105-98 win over Valley College.
Born in Queens, N.Y., his parents moved Brian and his younger sister, Daria, to Los
Angeles when they were both in middle school. He was a standout athlete at Notre Dame
High School in Sherman Oaks, CA. He dribbled his way to the University of San Francisco, then returned to
Notre Dame to start his coaching career. After coaching at Notre Dame from 1969-77, Coach Beauchemin
was given the opportunity to coach at the junior college level, at GCC in 1978.
Coach Beauchemin was an outstanding athlete, which is perhaps why he is such a successful coach today. He
is able to relate to his players the game of basketball, and more importantly, the game of life. He’s lived by his
belief that Responsibility + Accountability = Success. Throughout his coaching career, Coach Beauchemin has
always stressed teamwork, hard work, and playing with great passion. His teams are always well prepared, and
are motivated to give him their 100% effort. This comes from the fact that every practice session is designed
to make his players better.
The team and individual accomplishments of the Vaquero program under Beauchemin are too numerous to
list. Coach Beauchemin stresses to his players that the starting point for all achievement is desire. His teams
play aggressive, up-tempo basketball on offense, hard-nosed man-to-man defense, and consistently play smart
basketball, excel in the classroom, and are positively involved in the Glendale community.
