CAPS, GOWNS AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
Molloy College has taken another step in making the planet a better place to live. Starting this year all gowns for commencement will be “GreenWeaver”. This is a special
gown that is made from plastic bottles. The fabric is comfortably soft.
Molloy is one of the first colleges/universities in the country to use
these environmentally friendly gowns. With this year’s graduation class
the college will be saving approximately 25,000 plastic bottles from
landfills. The yarn from these gowns is made from 100% consumer
plastic bottles, thus permanently removing 25,000 plastic bottles
of waste from our landfill.
These gowns are softer to the touch and more breathable
than the traditional gown. If all the colleges in the country
would use this type of gown we would remove 152 million plastic
bottles from landfills each year.
