Talk
The Newsletter of the Tascosa High School Excellence Council - May 2010
Dear Parent:
Well, here we are celebrating the end of another successful school year. If your student is
a graduating senior, I congratulate you and your child on this wonderful accomplishment.
If there is ever anything we at Tascosa can do for you or your family, please let us know.
If your child is returning to Tascosa High School in the fall, I hope you and your family
have a restful and productive summer in preparation for next school year.
We have given the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test to our 9th,
10th, and 11th graders and are anxiously awaiting the results. The students and staff have
worked extremely hard to make sure we are successful on this very high stakes test. You
should be receiving the results in the next few weeks. I invite you to contact your child’s
counselor if you have any questions about the results. We are currently in the midst of
giving Advanced Placement Exams. Our AP program continues to excel with the number
of students enrolled in rigorous courses and the number of students signed up for the exams. Tascosa is blessed to have a
donor who provides resources that allow us to serve as many students as possible in these programs.
If your child will be a freshman next year, please mark your calendar for August 10, the date scheduled for our 9th grade
orientation, “Cruisin with Tascosa.” This is a very important day for our incoming 9th graders and their parents.
Once again, it has been a rewarding experience working with the Tascosa Excellence Council over the past year. The
commitment of this group of parents for our school is inspiring, and I highly encourage you to join them if you are not
already a member.
As always I would like to thank you for your continued support of Tascosa High School. Please feel free to come by or call
if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Lynn Pulliam, Principal
If your student has received notice of an immunization
that is due, please get the shot before school is out and
return the validation to the school nurse. THEY WILL NOT
BE ALLOWED TO ENROLL IN AUGUST WITHOUT THE
REQUIRED IMMUNIZATION.

After a devastating earthquake destroyed the capitol of Haiti and caused the
death and injury to hundreds-of-thousands, the students at Tascosa knew
they had to do something to help. With that spark, and under the combined
leadership of the Student Council, Jr. ROTC, Graphic Design Club, French
Club, DECA and the Key Club, our students raised $1,300 to assist the Red
Cross in their great relief efforts there. The “standout” class in this effort
was our sophomores who alone raised half of this money. Thanks to all who
contributed so generously to help our “neighbors to the south.”

Choir, and Les Chanteurs all three made First Division ratings and received Best in Class awards. Les Chanteurs
also won the Best in Festival trophy as the outstanding band, choir, or orchestra in the entire festival.
Congratulations the following choir students on their success at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest at WT. The
following students won first division medals in their class. Class 1 is the most advanced level, Class 2 is the
