About JoAnn
JoAnn Kelly Catsos
JoAnn Kelly Catsos is an award-winning black ash
splint basketmaker from Western Massachusetts.
JoAnn’s designs are influenced by traditional
Shaker and New England splint basketry, and
woven on molds made with help from her woodworker husband, Steve. She has been teaching
basketry full time for 25 years. Her teaching venues include art and craft schools, fiber/basketry
conferences, local guilds and private groups
across the country.
Workshop
JoAnn’s baskets have won numerous awards,
including Viewer’s and People’s Choice at basketry conventions and fiber/basketry exhibitions.
Her baskets are in many private and public collections and are featured in a number of books and
magazines. In 1999 JoAnn was honored to have
an ornament on the official White House Christmas Tree. She also received her Certificate of
Excellence in Basketmaking: Level I from the
Handweavers Guild of America in 2003.

registration and the balance to be paid by October 1st We will maintain a waiting list in the event of cancellations. If it is necessary for
you to cancel, full refunds will be granted if your space is filled from the waiting list. You also may find a replacement who is a basket
weaver.

Diamond Twill Bureau Basket
This newly designed basket is woven with precisely prepared
black ash splint over a wood mold. The stakes are brown
from the heartwood, while the lighter weavers come from the
sapwood. The twilled diamond pattern and lashed maple
rims add a touch of class to this beautiful basket. The Diamone Twill Bureau Basket is 8” long, 5” wide and 3” deep.
Weaving Level: Intermediate
Knife Basket
This lovely basket is identical to the body of the Lidded Knife
Basket and the Diamond Twill Bureau Basket and is woven
over a wood mold with precisely prepared black ash splint.
The maple handle and rims complete this basket that measures 8” long, 5” wide, and 3” deep.
