Museums and Gardens program. Let’s Move! is part of a broader initiative promoted by First Lady Michelle Obama to raise a healthier generation of children. Our goal is to provide families with enhanced opportunities for enjoying the benefits of exercise in a natural setting. To that end, our woodland trails have been renovated, marked and mapped so that guests can navigate them with ease and plan hikes by trail distance. In addition, an interactive children’s nature walk has been created to allow our young visitors to discover, through movement, some of the plants and animals that can be found at the Arboretum. We gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the Overlook Foundation and the Junior League of Summit. Their support and commitment have made Healthy Hike a reality. Look across the bowl and find where the honeybees live. Honeybees do a dance called the waggle dance to tell other honeybees where the sweetest nectar is. Move in a figure 8 and do the waggle dance! Rabbits sometimes stay very still to camouflage and keep safe. Can you freeze for 10 seconds? Now hop away like a cottontail! Dragonflies can hover and fly forwards, backwards, sideways and up and down. Try moving like a dragonfly! Foxes walk very quietly, with one foot in front of another. Can you walk like a fox? Foxes have a super sense of hearing. Cup your hands behind your ears and listen for every sound.
