We visited on a cold and snowy day and decided to invest all the money we had into this little brewery, in the middle of the woods. It had zero turnover but that did not worry us; we always knew we could create something really successful out of what was there. Today, it feels incredible to think how far we’ve come. Even though very few believed in our ideas over the years, we persavered and never gave up. We now produce the world’s best-selling pear cider which is exported to over 30 countries worldwide. In 2012, Kopparberg Mixed Fruit was voted the UK’s Hottest Alcohol Brand by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, which is a comprehensive and accurate review of brand performance within the UK drinks industry. We have also managed to preserve the brewery’s history, which began in 1882. Back then, the most important thing was to produce products that people loved. That’s how we work today. Kopparberg Cider is always made applying the great art of brewing; we combine the refreshing taste of fermented apples or pears together with our soft Kopparberg water to create a product that didn’t exist before. We created it for Swedes – today it’s ready for the world. The brewery still stands on the original site where it was built over 130 years ago. Many generations of local families have worked for Kopparberg and to this day it remains the main employer for the town’s 4,000 people.
