In addition, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death and disability in the U.S. As a result, much of the burden of caring for patients with cardiovascular disease will fall on primary care physicians. This conference is designed to provide an update in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease for primary care providers. At the Cardiology in Primary Care Conference, you will hear from nationally renowned speakers on a wide variety of topics. Areas of focus includes stress testing, heart disease in women, lipid-lowering therapy, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure management, and peripheral vascular disease. Panel discussion with the experts will also highlight key concepts in cardiovascular disease. Core Competencies: Patient Care & Medical Knowledge COURSE OBJECTIVES After attending this meeting, participants should be able to: n n n n n n n n n n Utilize the electrocardiogram to better diagnose cardiovascular disease Recognize specific challenges in caring for pregnant patients with cardiovascular disease Understand the guidelines for lipid-lowering therapy Identify new therapies for atrial fibrillation Prescribe optimal antiplatelet therapy for CAD patients Understand when coronary stenting for stable CAD is appropriate Identify the optimal strategy for screening for peripheral vascular disease Discuss choosing the correct stress test for your patient Understand the guidelines for management of valvular heart disease Identify medical and non-medical therapies for congestive heart failure The tuition charges of $650 for physicians and $445 for non-physicians includes continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, luncheons, course syllabus and other amenities involved in a rewarding learning experience. Written cancellations prior to September 13, 2016 will be refunded less a $75 administrative fee. No refunds will be given after this date. CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT The Emory University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 17.50 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
