The precepts of the Church explained that: we need to belong to a parish (your parish is the Church in the City where you are domiciled) and to contribute to its support. Everyone should do this (Canon 107). 2. To identify yourself with a worshipping community of faith. Salvation comes to us by God in community. Religion is not meant to be individualistic. Membership in a parish community is the norm. 3. To allow the priest of the parish to know you so that Letters of Recommendation can be given when needed. (Sponsorship/certificates) NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME RECTORY HOURS MONDAY: 8:00 – 3:00 PM TUESDAY: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM WEDNESDAY: 8:00 AM – 2:00PM THURSDAY: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM FRIDAY: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM SATURDAY AND SUNDAY CLOSED STEWARDSHIP – A WAY OF LIFE August 2, 2015 $3501.00 July 31, 2016 $ 3192..00 COUNTERS THIS WEEK: Lynne McDonald & John Armeno PARISH PAY FOR JULY:$2187.50 THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY NOVENA TO OUR MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP Every Wednesday at 8:30 am, followed with the Holy Mass First Reading: Wisdom 18:6-9 In this excerpt, the Israelites are reminded that they were warned before God sent an angel to slay the first born of the Egyptians. God called on them to have courage, and then rewarded them by punishing their enemies and leading them from captivity. Second Reading: Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19 Faith is described as true belief even toward things we cannot see. Abram's faith in God was so deep that he wandered through a foreign land, convinced God's promise of a homeland was sincere. God honored his promise to give Abram many descendants, and was proud of the deep faith Abram and his people possessed. Gospel: Luke 12:32-48 Jesus encourages us to be prepared for his return at all times, for he will come when we least expect him. He tells of a master who entrusts his home to his servants, and fully expects them to be awaiting his return. In the same manner, Jesus can arrive at any moment and expects us to be prepared for his return. He exhorts them to be steadfast in their faith, staying ready and prepared even when the fulfillment of that faith is long in coming. Jesus then gives an illustration in servants who are entrusted with the management of the household. No one knows just when the master will return. A wise servant, therefore, will always be vigilant, since the master may return any moment and will expect to find everything in order. The Gospel illustrates for us the importance of being ready and prepared for the many ways our God visits us in our lives. We are often beset with hardship and failure, pain and anguish, tragedy and disappointment; our dreams, hopes, and plans are frequently thwarted. Abraham’s example tells us to continue hoping in God’s love even though we cannot feel it and to keep on waiting in patient trust. Life on earth is a journey in faith and a pilgrimage of hope. For this journey we are given enough light to take the next step. As John Henry Cardinal Newman prayed, “Lead, kindly Light…Lead thou me on! Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see the distance sceneone step is enough for me.” 365 Days with the Lord published by the Society of St. Paul) LITURGICAL LIFE Dear Parishioners: We can only accept Prayer Intentions for the Sick from someone in the immediate family.
