You can’t remodel your neighbor
Love and tolerate your neighbor.
Right?
When picking a home, we encourage
our buyers to take a good look at the
neighbors, neighborhood and the
surrounding community.
Sellers are obligated
to
complete
questionaires
that
include
information about
past dealings with
the
neighbors,
shared easements,
trees, fences, and
neighborhood
nuisances.
The rule for what
a seller
should
disclose is easy, if somewhat subjective:
Does the piece of knowledge affect the
desirability of living in the home?
For instance, while some of us have
neighbors that grow prize winning
roses in their front yard, others have
neighbors that collect junk cars.
Some of us have big families and have
a lot of parties while others like to
“Go Griswald” with their Christmas
decorations.
Buyers should know these things.
Because, unless you are buying a 1,000
acre ranch in the middle of Montana,
there is a very good chance your
neighbor’s habits
and choices will
have an impact
on the livability of
your home.
And once you are
into the home,
for the most part,
you simply have
to tolerate your
neighbor.
That tolerance is
inescapable as it
is imbedded deeply in our culture and
laws.
The old book rule ‘let he who is without
sin cast the first stone’ easily translated
in the American context to ‘don’t tread
on me’ or ‘live and let live’.
In real estate, the principle translates:

with saving her life. Kristen was hit by a
car and suffered what could easily have
been fatal injuries.
But because she is fit and because she has
the right attitude, we are looking forward
to her return to the office sometime soon.
We need her, and her clients need her to
heal and to get moving.

artist and teacher
More numbers
Tom Sellas loves to make art and teach
art. And as is usually the case with people
who love their job, he is good at it.
Four County Area
He works mostly with oil on canvas, and
dabbles with 3 dimensional media, lots
of color, lots of light play, and lots of river
scenes throughout.
Yes the river shows up all through his
work, as it does with so many Northern
California Artists. Something basic about
running water to inspire us.
In Tom’s case, the inspiration comes while
aboard his kayak along the American
River. If you are a river person, his work
will be instantly familiar to you.
Go figure
His objective with his art is simply to take
the observer somewhere. Whether that
is by literally showing the looker another
place with his realistic pieces --- or in the
case of his abstracts, forcing us to stretch
ourselves to interpret as we will. The

fame, plays the star role in Nurse Jackie.
She carries the show, playing another
complicated and dark character.
For some reason, as Carmela, you had
some affection and sympathy for her,
despite her complicity as a mob boss
wife.
As Nurse Jackie, she is darker and very
hard to like.
Look for this to change as our inventory
comes up, but not by much. We have
so many buyers waiting for so few
homes that we will likely feel the heat of
multiple offers for some time to come for
properties that are priced correctly.
If you are thinking of selling or just need
to know where your home fits into the

On the one hand she is a super
compassionate and highly skilled nurse who
you would want on your side if you were in
the hospital.
On the other hand, she is a narcissistic drug
addict who cheats on her husband with
her pharmacist, while neglecting her two
daughters.
It’s a sort of ER Gone Bad that is entertaining
and very well done with lots of great
character acting. But, warning, it will be a
little dark for some tastes.

restaurants are all over the place, and
we try to forget them rather than write
about them.
Occasionally, we cannot help
ourselves and we do write about truly
bad movies. Happy Feet, that fear
inciting, propaganda cartoon comes
to mind from a past issue.
WHY DON’T YOU DO MORE
BUSINESS AND LESS LIFESTYLE
STUFF?
The short answer is that if people
want Wall Street Journal analysis, that
is being done other places.
We like our analysis and real estate ads
to be very local and placed in proper
proportions and context between the
stuff of life. Just our preference. Look
