How much does a label cost? A simple
question but one that can have a
surprisingly
complex answer
that FINAT explains
in this e-manual.

E-MANUALS
Self-adhesive materials –
Environmental Issues
The module covers present and future environmental
legislation, the waste elements in self-adhesive materials,
the totalmaterial usage in Europe, volumes
of secondary materials generated,
the environmental challenges for
self-adhesive labels, both from a
label converter and an end-user

E-MANUALS
Self-adhesive materials and adhesives –

E-MANUALS
Combination printing –
achieving the right combination for
success
The future of combination printing is well assured.
Combination printing will continue to grow thanks to the
outstanding graphic results that are possible. These are
what designers and brand managers are seeking. In order
to optimise the potential of this method of printing it is
important that both end-users and
suppliers fully understand the nuances
and the commercial implications of
investing in it. This new educational
module will help to meet this need.

E-MANUALS

explores the wide range of decorative
effects available in label printing. The
decoration techniques and finishes

and lamination.
17
E-MANUALS
Tracking and security
The self-adhesive label format is one of the most versatile
methods for protecting products and offers a unique level
of flexibility with is sought by end-users. Illustrated with
case studies from FINAT members this module explores
the main materials,
security inks and security
features on offer an how
they can be cleverly
combined with electronic
solutions and online authentication
codes and systems.
E-MANUALS
Design to print
This educational module provides a comprehensive overview of
the design to print process and its associated terminology. The
following chapters are featured in the module:
– Artwork - finalising and converting a design;
– Repro - preparation for print and the process of finalising artwork and colour
from a production brief
– Proofing – pre-viewing designs before printing;
– Colour control and management - ensuring colour accuracy and consistency;
– Preparing a job for print.
This module is a useful educational tool that can
help improve communication and control throughout the design process. Understanding what
happens to a label before it goes to press will
ultimately be reflected in better printed results,
fewer problems and therefore lower costs.”
